What’s up, guys? Welcome to another week of our anime recommendation series. This week we have an anime that most of you have probably watched but, it is still worth rewatching just because of how fun it is. We may also never get to see the ending of this story in the anime, so why not just enjoy what we have.
You have read already read the title, this week we are talking about Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai or Haganai. This is just a recommendation of course, so I won’t be pulling out any negatives or giving out any scores. Haganai is one of the most famous harem comedy anime and for a good reason. So let’s get started.

Introduction

Haganai is the anime adaptation of the light novel of the same name. The LN ended back in 2015 and it has quite the decisive ending but we are not here to talk about the LN. Haganai has a total of 24 episodes split into 2 seasons. The first season aired from 7th October 2011 to 23rd December 2011 and the second season aired from 11th January 2013 to 29th March 2013.
Haganai is a simple fun anime. It has some fan service and ecchi scenes. Back then, people weren’t that soft but if the same anime came out today, oh boy all of the Twitter would be going in to cancel it. People get offended very easily these days. I am getting off-topic, going back to Haganai let’s start with

Plot

The plot of Haganai is fairly simple, it is what you’d expect from a school harem anime. Surprisingly enough though, Haganai has quite a few deep parts in the plot too; that people tend to overlook. I want more people to notice that it is not your run-of-the-mill harem anime.
As for the plot itself, Haganai follows Hasegawa Kodaka who really has trouble making friends because his natural blonde hair makes him look like a delinquent. He creates a club with Mikazuki Yozora and he finally has some friends to hang out with. Of course, he ends up creating a harem instead, and also turns out he has some history with all of the club members. I am pretty sure that Haganai is the LN that made the club-harem combo famous.

Characters

Characters in Haganai are what you’d expect from a typical harem anime. You have all the stereotypes you can think of both in looks and personality. The characters do have more depth than normal but, sadly the anime never gets to the point where it becomes apparent that Haganai is not a normal harem anime.
So strictly in terms of where the anime leaves off, the characters aren’t that great. I really like the protagonist but that is because I have read Haganai’s LN. You may not like him from just watching the anime. If I talk about just the anime, my favorite is Yozora.

Haganai had average animations for the time and its animations are still average. There is quite a bit of fan service in it so if you like that stuff, you’ll love this anime. As for the soundtracks, I like both of the openings but that’s about it.
