Man, this anime is a blast. It has one of the most relatable protagonists ever. I mean, it is a stupid concept but it is so damn fun to watch. A friend recommended this anime to me a few years ago, and I was rewatching it recently. Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge is a great anime and man, you should definitely check it out.
Welcome back to another edition of our anime recommendation series! This week we are talking about Tanaka-kun. It is a really good comedy/SOL anime. I really like this anime and I have a lot to talk about so, let’s get started.
Tanaka-kun wa Itsumo Kedaruge is based on manga of the same name. The manga is written by Uda Nozomi and it is 145 chapters/13 volumes long. The anime itself is 12 episodes long but, it does have a couple of specials that are really good as well. Probably should be apparent just from the animation style but, Sliver Link made this anime.
It is crazy to think that it has been like 3 years since I originally watched Tanaka-kun. Time really runs fast, but well I still love this anime as much as when I first watched it. It is a really fun to watch series and as I said earlier, Tanaka is one of the most relatable MCs ever. We all want to be lazy like him right?
Tanaka-kun has a fairly simple plot like most SOL anime. It is about the daily life of the titular Tanaka. He is very
lazy … I mean, very very efficient. He just wishes for an uneventful day and wants to spend a quiet life. He is so “efficient” that his friend Ohta generally carries him, yes Tanaka doesn’t generally walk lol.
I know, I know that plot sounds bonkers but yes, that is the point and the appeal of this anime. “See this very lazy dude try to deal with stuff that makes him work hard”. The sheer stupidity of the plot makes Tanaka-kun extremely entertaining. The anime is pretty episodic but, that works really well for these kinds of animes.
Well, Tanaka is the obvious best part about Tanaka-kun. Who would’ve thought right? But man aside from him, the small cast of characters we have in this anime is really good. We have Ohta, Tanaka’s best friend, who does most of his work. You know then we have Shiraishi who is really adorable and naive. And then there’s Tanaka’s sister… ooh boy. I love Kensho Ono’s performance in this anime, Tanaka is voiced by the same VA as Giorno Giovanna, that is funny.
Animations and Soundtracks
Tanaka-kun has really good animations. Silver Link really did their best here. The art style is really good and vibrant. A tad bit bright for my taste but I still love it because it looks really cute. The opening theme is really good too. I don’t remember much of the soundtracks aside from that though.
Why should you watch Tanaka-kun?
Quick pointers on why you should check out this anime:
- Funny plot
- Great characters
- Really entertaining
- Good animations
Well, that is all for now. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. I really love this series and I’d love to see a 2nd season of this. With that said though, I will take my leave here. See ya!
