Atri: My Dear Memories, Put This on Your Radar

Key points for Put This on Your Radar – Atri: My Dear Memories

  • Atri: My Dear Memories stands out as an anime adaptation of a visual novel, a less common occurrence compared to adaptations from light novels and manga.
  • The anime retains the original visual novel’s voice cast, including Kensho Ono and Hikaru Akao as the main characters, ensuring continuity and authenticity.
  • Set in a near-future where rising sea levels submerge areas, Atri’s plot revolves around a protagonist’s discovery of a robot in his grandmother’s sunken lab, promising a unique and potentially exceptional romance series.

As a romance enjoyer, I am genuinely ashamed of myself for missing this announcement back in September. Even though I know well just how well-received the VN is, in general. Yes, Atri: My Dear Memories is an anime based on the VN of the same name. VN anime adaptations aren’t very common compared to LN and manga so that goes on to show just how good this VN is and how much people liked it. I have not played the VN myself but I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. I shouldn’t need to play the VN either if the anime turns out to be good!

So welcome back to Put This on Your Radar, the series where we take a look at upcoming anime that caught my eye. And today we are talking about Atri: My Dear Memories. So let’s get right into it.

What do we know about Atri: My Dear Memories anime?

As I mentioned, this anime will be based on the visual novel of the same name by Frontwing and Makura. You may know those names if you’ve heard of their other really popular VN, The Fruits of Grisaia. As for the anime, the anime will be made by Troyca. All the voice cast members from the VN will also be reprising their roles for the anime. So the main duo of Natsuki and Atri will still be voiced by Kensho Ono and Hikaru Akao. The anime will be directed by Katou Makoto. No release window for it yet but it will come out sometime in 2024.

As for the plot, it is quite interesting. Atri is set in a near future where the rise of the sea level has caused many places to drown underwater. Natsuki lost a leg and his mother in an accident returns to his hometown a few years later only to find that it had drowned as well. Left without a family, all Natsuki has is a submarine and a ship that she inherited from his Oceanologist grandmother along with her debts. A debt collector advises Natsuki to find his grandmother’s sunken lab for something valuable but what he finds is a robot named Atri.

After that, you can kind of guess how the plot goes. It is a romance series after all. As of now, we only have a teaser PV. More trailers should drop soon along with the proper release window. Check it out here.

That is all for now!

Even my love for the romance genre aside, the setting for Atri looks interesting. If it is realized well in the anime, this anime could truly be exceptional The plot looks pretty good as well. Let me know what you guys think in the comments though. I will take my leave here. See ya!!
