Ayanokoji Kiyotaka Returns! Best Anime Episode of the Week!

Key points for Best Episodes of the Week – Winter 2024, Week 1:

  • Classroom of the Elite Season 3 Premiere: Ayanokoji Kiyotaka is back in the first episode of Classroom of the Elite Season 3, setting the stage for tension and intriguing developments with new character dynamics.
  • Solo Leveling Episode 1: Though not meeting my high expectations, Solo Leveling Episode 1 was still enjoyable, offering essential world-building and hinting at a promising future for the series.
  • Sasaki and Peeps Episode 1: A surprise favorite for me, Sasaki and Peeps impressed with its unique take on isekai, humor, and entertainment value, benefiting from a longer 48-minute first episode.
  • A Sign of Affection Episode 1: My favorite of the week, A Sign of Affection Episode 1 impressed with its sweetness, character dynamics, and heartwarming elements in the romance genre.
  • Frieren Episode 17: While not particularly interesting plot-wise, Frieren Episode 17 stood out for its entertainment value, character dynamics, and a humorous moment between Stark and Fern.

Winter 2024 season is finally here giving me a chance to return with this article series! If you remember, last week I didn’t do this series. Because barely any new episodes came out last week. Frieren and Ragna Crimson were both on a break as well. Frieren has returned this week, while I believe Ragna Crimson returns next week. Since I didn’t see a new episode for it. Anyway, along with a few awesome anime continuing from last season, this season is pretty big in its own right with anticipated sequels and new releases. Why did I name this article after Ayanokoji Kiyotaka?

Well, let’s just it is simply because it will get me the most clicks aside from Solo Leveling on this article. Please understand lol. But our lord and savior Ayanokoji Kiyotaka has returned this week with Classroom of the Elite Season 3. But that is not all, Solo Leveling, Sasaki and Peeps, Blue Exorcist and A Sign of Affection all came out this week as well. While Solo Leveling Episode 1 didn’t blow me away, I had to put that on this list because it was still a fun episode.

So welcome back to the first best episodes of the week article of 2024! It is the beginning of the winter 2024 season and here are my favorite episodes of the week!

Frieren Episode 17

Ok, I will admit that this episode wasn’t all that interesting. But I included this episode here purely because of how entertaining it was. It was important plot-wise as well because Sien went his separate ways from Frieren’s group in this episode as well. So it was a pretty important character moment for him as well. But the main standout factor of this episode was the dynamic between Stark and Fern. As Sien put it “Just date already” as he slammed a glass on the table.

I wonder who will resolve their fights now that Sien is gone. Frieren herself isn’t the sort of person to do that. And like, we all know how dense that grandma is. Either way, fun episode!

Solo Leveling Episode 1

Ok… If you read my article on this episode, you will know that I wasn’t particularly impressed by this episode. And I will tell you why. It was no fault of the episode, of course, it if was any other anime, I would’ve been satisfied with the episode. But since it was Solo Leveling, my expectations for the first episode were really high and the episode simply didn’t meet them.

So why am I including this episode still on the list? Well, that is because the episode was still quite enjoyable to watch. Yes, it was mostly an information dump about the world and how things work, but I still liked it. It gave us more than enough information for the first episode. And the last 5 minutes of the episode were pretty awesome as well. Just based on those last 5 minutes alone I can tell you that episode 2 is going to be an absolute classic.

Sasaki and Peeps Episode 1

Ok, this might become one of my favorite animes of winter 2024. It was such a surprise. At the start of every season, I start watching a bunch of random new anime. And sometimes, I stumble on gold like this. Sasaki and Peeps is not only an interesting and refreshing take on isekai, but it is also funny as hell and entertaining to watch. The anime really benefited a lot from a longer, 48-minute first episode.

And I was laughing the whole way through because of how entertaining this anime turned out to be. Sugita Tomokazu nailing his comedy as always. He voices Sasaki in this anime and I immediately recognized his voice. Peeps is voiced by Yuki Aoi, that was quite unexpected but hearing that heavy voice coming from a bird was funny as hell. Great episode!

Classroom of the Elite Season 3 Episode 1

Another amazing episode from this week. This episode also marks the return of the Chad himself, Ayonokoji Kiyotaka. Back in all his chad glory. Of course, since this is the first episode, he didn’t do anything crazy. But things are starting off pretty tense. You see, the soon-to-graduate Horikita Manabu had an interesting request for our lord and savior, Ayanokoji Kiyotaka. He wants Ayano to keep an eye out for the new student council president, Nagumo Miyabi and to that effect, add Suzune to the student council as well.

As if that wasn’t enough, there is also the case of Sakayanagi. Who pretty much declared a war on Ayano in the last season. Combine that with the interesting nature of the current exam, and we are all in for a very interesting arc.

A Sign of Affection Episode 1

I said this multiple times in my first impressions article too but this is my absolute favorite episode of this week. This episode was everything I expected from this series and so much more. It was fun, it was cute and it was heartwarming. If the anime continues to be this sweet, I don’t know if I will even be able to handle the remaining episode of the season.

The characterization of both MCs is a breath of fresh air in the romance genre, the setting is interesting and I already adore the character dynamics in this anime. I know for a fact that this anime as a whole is going to be one of my favorites from this season.

That is all for now!

That is all for this week, guys! Let me know what you guys thought in the comments. If you have any anime recommendations for me from this season, drop them in the comments as well! I will take my leave here, last exam tomorrow, gotta sleep early. See ya!
