The summer season has been going on for a while and we are in the 5th week of the season. We have had some really promising shows this season and a lot of hype episodes. So we decided to put together a list of all the best anime episodes from this week.
The list will be unordered and strictly based on the episodes that came out this week alone. This series will be like a mini-review for people who are looking for what shows to jump into this season. I will do my utmost to ensure diversity, but I acknowledge that certain anime titles may appear frequently on this list. So I apologize for that in advance.
With that said, welcome to a new weekly series. As the name suggests, in this series, we will be taking a look at the best anime episodes of the week. I cannot provide a specific number as the number of episodes I enjoy varies. Sometimes it is more than five and other times it is less. Now that the disclaimer is out of the way, let’s begin.
Mushoku Tensei II Episode 5
This episode officially marks the beginning of the Ranoa arc in Mushoku Tensei. We get our introduction to the Silent Fitz, a character much more important than you may realize, Some people may have already figured out who it actually is but I am not going to spoil it. While not as impactful as the last episode in terms of character growth for Rudeus, this episode is still important as it introduces us to almost everything in the Ranoa Academy.
We meet a lot of characters that will be important later on in this episode. It is a great introductory episode for the upcoming arc.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 5
This episode finally marked the end of the flashback arc. We got to see how Gojou eventually developed his powers. And we got a brief yet detailed explanation of his abilities and how he has changed things to make his abilities more efficient. This was a very important episode for Suguru as a character. We got to see how he slowly developed his disdain for normal humans and how he ended up being the antagonist in the present day.
It does not have the shock value of last week’s episode as there is no big fight. But. it is really important in terms of character development for both Gojou and Suguru. This episode also shows how Gojou met Megumi and why he took him in. Which is pretty cool.
Bleach TYBW Episode 18
Despite all my complaints about Rose and Kensei getting swatted really quickly after looking cool for like 30 seconds, this episode was still a great episode. Episode 18 or Part 2 Episode 5 gave us the first big fight of this part of the arc. It also marks the first time that we actually see a Sternritter get killed. Not defeated like in the previous episode, killed. The animations and the soundtracks, everything about Renji vs. Mask de Masculine was perfectly executed.
Renji’s new Bankai looks much better in the anime than it did in the manga. It is also cool to see that the 4th division has set up a whole camp in the anime, while in the manga, Isane alone was handling all the healing. Minor changes like these go a long way to improve immersion. Great episode overall despite the flaws.
Bungou Stray Dogs Season 5 Episode 5
Wow, I did not see this plot twist coming. Season 5 has been a complete roller coaster ride so far. Just when you think it could not get any better after we got that amazing fight between Akutagawa, Atsushi, and Fukuchi, the show drops this bombshell on you. To describe what happened, I will have to spoil a very major incident, which I don’t want to do, so go watch the episode yourself. Seriously, the ending of the episode will leave your jaw dropped to the floor.
This episode completely altered the trajectory of the arc once again and everything we thought we knew, is gone out of the window again. Easily among the best anime episodes of the week just for the shock factor alone.
My Happy Marriage Episode 5
This one is an unexpected one, isn’t it? I bet none of you expected this to be here. A show that sounds like the most generic romance anime from the title has an actually good story. And the story just got better this week because of the ending of episode 5. Once again, I will not spoil anything. A lot of scheming and political stuff was going on in the background of the story. Finally, all that has come to the foreground and something serious has happened.
Poor Miyo was just starting to regain her confidence too. Next week, it should be fun to Kiyoka go on a rampage. Amazing episode, a twist we saw coming but it was still incredibly well executed. And most of all, it came out of nowhere adding to the shock factor. Don’t underestimate this series, it’s fantastic and surpasses expectations despite its cheesy-sounding title. Definitely one of the best anime episodes of the week because of all the plot developments.
Conclusion
