Bleach TYBW God of Thunder Episode Review – Part 4 is Here!

Article at a glance:
- Animation? Perfect. Wide-angle shots of Wahr Welt look like straight-up wallpaper material, no notes.
- Two fights, two vibes. Uryu vs. Haschwalth is a battle of wits, Yoruichi + Urahara vs. Askin is all flash and color.
- Pacing was great. Quick recap, no wasted time, and we’re only getting 10 episodes so every minute counts.

Well, we are finally here. You have no idea just how excited I was for TYBW Part 4. I think I’ve stated this many times before, but Bleach is my favorite shounen series, by far. So seeing it finally get the love and appreciation it deserves with a revamped final arc just fills me with joy. And well, we’re here at the final part of the final arc. And how was this first showing? Pretty damn good. So welcome to my Bleach TYBW God of Thunder episode review!
Of course, since I am talking about the episode, there will be spoilers ahead. I won’t spoil any future content, but there will be spoilers for Bleach TYBW The Calamity Episode 1 ahead. With that said, let’s get started.
Bleach TYBW The Calamity First Impressions

First and foremost, props to the animations. They’ve been doing really well throughout TYBW outside of some smaller issues. But Part 4 Episode 1? Absolutely perfect. Some of the frames in this episode go so incredibly hard. I loved the wide-angle establishing shot going through the entire Wahr Welt showing all the major fights across the map. So much straight-up wallpaper material type stuff in the first episode alone. We didn’t even get a prolonged crazy fight or something, but the episode still looked amazing.
The episode gives us a few good minutes of both Uryu vs. Haschwalth and Yoruichi + Urahara vs. Askin. And I really liked how distinct both fights looked and felt. Uryu vs. Haschwalth is a legit battle of wits. Uryu knows that Haschwalth’s version of The Almighty is not perfect. And he constantly tried to push it and see its limits. In comparison, the Yoruichi fight was more flashy, given her Shunkou. But once again, the colors were absolutely stunning. Be it the yellow lightning effects on Yoruichi’s Shunkou. the bright blue of Uryu’s Vollstandig or the purple of Askin’s poison, everything in this episode looked stunning.

Not much plot was covered in this episode. But it didn’t matter because of how good the pacing was. The opening shot after Yhwach wakes up gives us a nice and quick status update on what each group is doing. I am glad that they didn’t stretch the recap; just quick shots of Pernida and Lille dying as Yhwach wakes up. We are limited on time in this season since Part 4 will only run for 10 episodes. Also, the opening and ending? Bangers once again. I love that the opening’s first frame has Ichigo and the ending’s first frame has Orihime. That’s a cute parallel.
Wrapping Up
But yeah, that concludes my review for Bleach TYBW Part 4 Episode 1: God of Thunder. Awesome episode overall; did a great job of recapping without wasting time on a dedicated recap, looked amazing, and I cannot wait to see more of TYBW Part 4. Let me know what you guys thought of the episode in the comments. Expect regular Bleach coverage moving forward because I doubt I’ll be able to keep it together watching this season unfold lol. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!
