Bloom Into You, Manga Recommendation of the Week!

Key takeaways from Manga Recomendation – Bloom Into You:
- “Bloom Into You” stands out with its unorthodox storytelling in the Yuri romance genre, offering a unique perspective on love and character growth.
- The manga focuses on Yuu and Touko’s evolving relationship, providing deep character development and exploration as they navigate emotions and maturity.
- Despite being short, with only 50 chapters, “Bloom Into You” delivers a compelling plot, well-crafted characters, and a great romance experience.
I really enjoy Yuri romance anime because of their unorthodox storytelling. And I could say the same about Yaoi as well. They have their own things to deal with that separate them from a traditional romance series. Bloom Into You or Yagate Kimi ni Naru is one such example.
This manga had been on my list for a while now. Finally picked it up recently. And as expected, I was pretty impressed by it and before I knew it, it was over. It was that good. I am no longer a teenager but if I was one, I would have probably cried reading this manga lol.
So welcome back to another edition of our manga recommendation series, today we are talking about Bloom Into You! Let’s get started!
Introduction
Bloom Into You or Yagate Kimi ni Naru is written and illustrated by Nakatani Nio. It was serialized in the Degeki Daioh magazine from April 2015 to September 2019. The manga is just 50 chapters or 8 volumes long. It also has an anime adaptation of 13 episodes, I have not watched the anime, but judging from the scores, it looks decent enough, So you can check that out as well if you want.
Plot
The story follows, Yuu Koito, a girl who loves romance mangas and love songs. She dreams that she will experience love for herself one day and that will make her heart flutter like the songs. But one day, a guy confesses to her, this is what she had been wanting but, she feels nothing. So when she asks the student council president, Touko for help. Touko responds by confessing to Yuu and that gives Yuu the feeling she had always desired.
This basically kicks off the whole series as Yuu discovers what love means, how growing up changes things, and how she gets the experience of the romance she has always wanted, or does she? It is a really intriguing plot for how short the manga is.
Characters
Just like almost any other romance manga, Bloom Into You is mostly character driven. Even the whole plot is about Yuu’s character development as she matures emotionally throughout the series. Touko gets a lot of character development as well since she is the 2nd main character. Their relationship is exceptionally well-written. This coupled with a bunch of good side characters really sells the series well.
Art
The artwork is decent, but the character designs stand out and add depth to the lead characters’ personalities in the manga. I know that sounds kind of weird but you will get what I mean if you read the manga. Their differences in stature really help some interactions it feels like.
