Bungou Stray Dogs Season 5 Started off With a Bang!

Key takeaways from First Impressions – Bungou Stray Dogs Season 5:
- Bungou Stray Dogs Season 5’s first episode delivers a strong start, with a well-balanced mix of story progression, plot twists, and comedy.
- The return of Rampo brings a much-needed turnaround for the Detective Agency, and while the reveal could have had more buildup, it still has a significant impact.
- The episode sets up new plot threads and leaves viewers excited for the future episodes, hinting that the Agency’s crisis won’t be resolved easily. The new opening theme and visuals are also impressive.
Bungou Stray Dogs Season 4 manages to recapture my interest in the series. Not just that, Season 4 had one of the best story arcs of the series as well. Bungou Stray Dogs Season 5 continues that story arc and man, just the first episode was enough to give an idea of what is to come.
I loved every moment of episode 1, it had a lot riding on it after the cliffhanger ending of Season 4 and it delivered. The episode had an incredible balance of story progression, some nice plot twists, and reveals with a slight touch of comedy.
So welcome back to another first impressions article. Today I am talking about Bungou Stray Dogs Season 5. Let’s get right into it.
What do I think about Bungou Stray Dogs Season 5?
Finally, we see the Detective Agency make their comeback after being battered again and again throughout the last season. And who better to fix all of the stuff than Rampo himself? After being missing in action for a long time, Eduardo Rampo returns with a bang and turns the situation around in one fell swoop. I do think they could’ve taken a little more time to reveal Rampo’s plan, you know, it could’ve used a little more buildup but the reveal still hits hard.
I love the transition to the reveal though. Dazai is talking with Fyodor in the prison, Fodor is like “Bri, don’t you need to worry about the Agency?” and Dazai is like “Nah, as long as you’re in here with me thatΒ person is free to move”. And then we cut to Rampo fixing everything, The episode, of course, ended with another cliffhanger as always but it did a great job of answering a few questions as well as creating new plot threads for this season to follow up on.
Really good first episode. Things seem to be falling in order now but I don’t think the Agency will get out of this crisis that easily so I am very excited to see what awaits us in the future episodes. The new opening theme is awesome, I love the way they used CGI in it, the backgrounds, in particular, look amazing. The way they show the credits in the opening theme is also very creative once again. Granrodeo never disappoints, and it does not feel like Bungou Stray Dogs without a song from them.
Conclusion
That is all for now. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. I am really happy and hyped after watching the first episode of Bungou Stray Dogs Season 5. The episode gets an easy 9/10 from me. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!
