The Cat and the Dragon Anime Announces Cast, Songs, and Streaming Date

The official website for the anime adaptation of Amara’s Neko to Ryū (The Cat and the Dragon) light novels has unveiled its second promotional video along with a fresh key visual. The latest video announces five additional voice actors, previews the opening and ending theme songs, and reveals that the anime will stream starting June 27 in Japan.

New cast members include Hinata Tadokoro as Greater Daemon, Yōji Ueda as Monsha-Mosha IV, Saho Shirasu as Mike-Mike, Natsuki Hanae as Monaruka (Black), and Tomohisa Asō as Pomupora. These characters will join the already announced main cast, contributing to the rich world of the series.

For music, singer suis from the band Yorushika performs the opening theme “Nekohi” (Cat Day). Meanwhile, the ending theme “Tadaima no Basho” (A Place to Call Home) is performed by vocalist lia’s band shallm. Both songs were teased in the promo video, giving fans a taste of the anime’s mood and style.

The series will stream first on the d Anime Store and ABEMA platforms in Japan on June 27 at 9:30 p.m. JST (8:30 a.m. EDT). This streaming debut comes one week before it airs on television and other streaming services. The anime will start its TV broadcast on July 4 on Tokyo MX, followed by other regional channels throughout the week.

The story centers around a young dragon who lost its parents before birth and was raised by a mother cat deep in the forest. Surrounded by a family of cats, the dragon is seen as an unusual feline who can fly and breathe fire. To repay the kindness, the dragon stays in the forest to watch over the cats. The cats affectionately call it “winged uncle,” while humans know it as the “cat dragon.”

The anime is directed by Jin-Koo Oh from OLM studio. Scriptwriting is handled by Mitsutaka Hirota, with character designs by Rie Nishino and Chiaki Kurakazu. Takahiro Obata composes the music, and Noriyoshi Konuma manages sound direction.

Amara began the web novel on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2013. Its light novel series, illustrated by Mai Ōkuma, has sold over 1.4 million copies as of the ninth volume. A manga adaptation by Izumi Sasaki also runs on Kono Manga ga Sugoi! web and Manga Box, with its 13th volume coming in July.

With the recent confirmations, fans of The Cat and the Dragon have much to look forward to. The new cast and music promise to bring the story to life, while early streaming access ensures viewers can enjoy the series soon.
