The moment is finally here. I have waited so long for the anime to catch up to this moment and it paid off. Dr. Stone New World just introduced us to the series’s main antagonist and I really wanted to talk about it. So here we are with yet another article on this anime and yes, we will be talking about the main antagonist, ‘Why-man’ today.
So welcome to… I guess a story article? Today of course we will be talking about Why-man. Now, please keep in mind, I won’t go into too much detail as the true nature of the Why-man ties into the ending of the series. Please treat this article as a bit of an introduction to them.Β Minor spoilers for future episodes and major spoilers for episode 3 inbound. With the wanting out of the way, let’s start.
What happened in Dr. Stone New World Episode 3?
So in episode 3, we see Senku and the group finally get their hands on oil and finally manage to refine it into gasoline. This allows Senku to make a motorboat which then Ryusui uses to take Senku, Gen, Chrome, and Giorno Giovanna Ukyo to the open waters. Of course, the small antennas they’ve been using till now won’t work for a distance like this so Senku had put a big antenna in service before leaving to help them navigate.
Ruri and Chrome are about to have a real sweet convo over the phone but… a weird signal interrupts them. Gen soon realized that the signal is not noise, it is the same signal in Morse code being repeated over and over. The Morse code says ‘W-H-Y’. Senku immediately deduces that this must be the mastermind behind the petrification and the episode cuts off at that point.
Who is the Why-man?
As I said, they are the main antagonist of the whole series. We will get to see more and more of them as Dr. Stone New World anime progresses. In fact, they have an important role right in the next arc. the Treasure Island arc. As you might expect, they become a real pain in the butt from this point on, and soon, it becomes the main objective of Senku and the group to uncover the identity and nature of the Why-man.
That is all I will say for now though. Because I don’t want to give away too much. Because if you know what the Why-man is, you won’t get the same enjoyment out of the series in my opinion.
