So what did I say about lots of classics coming back in recent years in one of my previous articles? Yeah, it looks like something like that has happened again. Fist of the North Star announced a new project… in 2023… who would’ve even thought?
It has been what? Like 40 years since the manga came out? And it is still relevant somehow AND it is getting a new anime? That is wild. That is absolutely wild. I am sorry, I am so shocked that I can’t even think of what to say correctly.
So yeah welcome back to another news article. I definitely was not prepared to write about this today but here we are. Today let’s talk about the new anime project from Fist of the North Star. Let’s get started.
What do we know about the new Fist of the North Star anime?
So as I mentioned, it has been 40 years since the manga came out and they recently held a 40th anniversary celebration for it. Warner Bros. Japan announced that this age-old manga will be getting a new anime project. The project is simply titled “Hokuto no Ken: Fist of the North Star”. They gave us a teaser visual for it too and that is all.
They didn’t even announce what kind of project it was so obviously, no studio/staff/cast was revealed either. So yeah, a typical first announcement, with little to no details, just meant to acknowledge that they’re working on a new project related to this series. More details should be announced in the coming weeks. Obviously, this anime isn’t coming out any time soon so

What do I think?
An announcement like this really does leave the room for a lot of speculation, huh? So I think it is fair to assume that this new project is some kind of a reboot or recap based on the name. However, it is not clear if it will be a full-on reboot anime series or a short recap/series movie. That is what intrigues me the most. Either way, I am sure it will be a huge success given how relevant the series still is somehow 40 years later.
I’d personally like to see a full-on reboot series for the anime because that will make it easier for new audiences to join while giving old heads the same old awesome anime with updated visuals and all. But that is just a personal wish of mine.
