Frieren Episode 24 Was… Best Episodes of the Week!

Key points for Best of the Weeks – Winter 2024, Week 8:

  • Character Development in A Sign of Affection: Shin’s backstory and emotional struggle in A Sign of Affection Episode 8 add depth to his character, making him more relatable and likable.
  • Strategic Brilliance in Classroom of the Elite: Kiyotaka’s impressive strategic moves in Classroom of the Elite Season 3 Episode 8 showcase his exceptional intelligence and set the stage for intense competition.
  • Intriguing Plot Connections in The Apothecary Diaries: The revelation of interconnected incidents and the reveal of Jinshi’s identity in The Apothecary Diaries Episode 20 contribute to a captivating plot development.
  • Consistent Charm of The Dangers in My Heart Season 2: The show continues to deliver sweetness and humor, with a particularly funny scene involving Adachi and a delightful birthday celebration in Episode 8.
  • Ragna Crimson’s Surprising Developments: Ragna Crimson Episode 19 introduces unexpected elements like a moon base and a character’s mental breakdown, adding complexity to the narrative.
  • Exciting Climax in Frieren Episode 24: The episode builds anticipation with Frieren’s strategic dungeon exploration, amusing character dynamics, and the setup for an intense all-out fight against her clone in the next episode.

Is it bad that Ubel is growing on me? I saw a lot of Reddit posts about people “appreciating” her. And while I get her appeal, I wasn’t that into her. But now, things are starting to change, Anyway, even putting Ubel aside, Frieren Episode 24 was a great one. We are finally approaching the end of this season. Just 4 more weeks to go and I am probably the most interested in seeing the climax of Frieren. Especially given how things are going right now.

But of course, that isn’t all. We had some amazing episodes this week in general. Too bad Solo Leveling didn’t have a new episode this week because I was looking forward to seeing what happens after the last episode. The Dangers in My Heart Season 2 and A Sign of Affection continue to be charming. The plot thickened quite a bit in The Apothecary Diaries. And god knows whatever is going on with Ragna Crimson, it was still a great episode by the way.

So let’s talk about everything from Frieren Episode 24 to Crimson’s panic attack and breakdown. It is the 8 week of the Winter 2024 season. And here are my favorite episodes from this week!

A Sign of Affection Episode 8

This episode told us the whole backstory of Itsu, Shin, and Emma in detail. And oh boy, it is a complicated situation. At first, I didn’t know what to think of Itsu introducing Yuki to Shin. But after that flashback, I understand. He needs to know, that he is the only one who can relay the news to Emma “properly”. And there is the matter of his feelings as well. Honestly, I think a lot of people can relate to Shin and this episode made me like him as a character as well.

His conversation with Kyouya was impactful and I like how he couldn’t just bring himself to tell Emma about Itsu and Yuki. Let alone tell her his feelings. Things like that take time. Seriously, Shin became one of the best characters in the anime because of this episode. Aside from that, this episode also showcased just how much Itsu has adapted to using sign language. He even convinced Yuki to do a sign language boot camp between them and Rin and Kyouya. I look forward to seeing that in the next episode.

Classroom of the Elite Season 3 Episode 8

That boy Kiyotaka built different. In this episode, he managed to get Yamauchi out of the class, save Ryuen from expulsion, arrange enough points for Ichinose to prevent any explosions from her class, and get the most amount of praise votes for himself while he was at it. Sakayanagi really thinks that she can win against this guy. He did all of this right before the exams as well. That is beyond impressive.

Also, Hirata finally cracked in this episode. He didn’t like the idea of getting a classmate expelled even though there was no other choice. We finally saw how twisted his ideals and sticking to them had made him. It was cool to see him shed his nice-guy exterior and just go at it against Horikita. Too bad his arguments were kind of nonsensical and too idealistic. But it was cool to see him crack anyway, the voice actor even changed his speech pattern for that scene.

The Apothecary Diaries Episode 20

I am a little disappointed that the ending of last week’s episode didn’t lead to anything. Of course, I wasn’t expecting Mao to actually die or anything. But it would have been cool to see the immediate aftermath of her getting her head clubbed. I don’t think Lakan would just let the guard get away with what he did. Especially given how intense his expression was during that whole scene in last week’s episode.

That said though, the plot development in this episode made me forget all of that real quick. Last episode, we were presented with the idea that all the major incidents in the series so far are connected despite seeming random at first. This episode further explored that idea. This episode also pretty much told us who Jinshi is. We also had the fun clip for Mao laughing like she is a villain or something, I love how even Jinshi was weirded out by her random evil laughter. Awsome episode.

The Dangers in My Heart Season 2 Episode 8

This show has no right to be this good. And yet here we are, talking about it almost every week. This episode once again, was really sweet as Season 2 has always been. And they somehow manage to get one over the previous episode every week. Yamada and Ichikawa aside, we open the episode with a rather funny scene with Adachi. Like, even his mom comes over to help him, it was a hilarious scene.

Speaking of hilarious, the scene where Ichikawa is texting Yamada after the basketball game is probably the funniest scene in this whole series so far. It gets even funnier when his sister enters the room. And then of course, as the episode comes to an end, we get our weekly diabetes moment(s) between Ichikawa and Yamada, And hey, it was Ichikawa’s birthday celebration so things were extra special in this week’s episode.

Ragna Crimson Episode 19

So first off, Crimson has a base on the moon? They have satellite cameras too? So I think it is fair to assume that Crimson is someone from our time or has at least experienced our time with their time travel abilities. Also, I don’t know how much of it was intentional but Crimson having a full-on mental breakdown as Ragna decides to leave to save Lia was really funny. They were literally doing flips in frustration at some point and the voice actor did a fantastic job of selling just how off-guard Crimson was caught with all of this development lol.

I have mixed feelings about Lia being alive though. Yes, I understand why the plot kind of needs it but it also takes away from the glorious final scene she had with Ragna in episode 17. So I hope that her being alive gives us a better moment than that. Ragna got some nice character development in this episode. And we also set up the focus of the upcoming arc as well in this episode. Can’t wait to see next week’s episode.

Frieren Episode 24

I love how Denken early on is all smug and mighty that he and his team may be able to take out the Frieren clone. But apparently, they get owned and are just sitting outside of the room she is guarding. Fireren knowing the correct route in the dungeon and its secrets has been interesting to follow. We got a very cool scene in a hidden room in this episode. I also like how Frieren and Fern arrived late to the same location as Denken’s group a little later since they took their time exploring the dungeon. Frieren Episode 24 was such a treat overall.

Fern taking away Frieren from the blonde lady out of jealousy though has to be the funniest thing in this episode. Aside from that Ubel has a cool fight with her clone, she is still gaslighting Land and I like their dynamic. And just when I was wondering why we didn’t see a Sense clone yet, well, this episode showed the Sense clone kicking some serious butt and also establishing the fact that hypnosis spells do not work against the clones. I love how this anime ties up all close ends. So yeah, the next episode will be interesting as it will be an all-out fight against Frieren’s clone.

That is all for now!

That is all for this week! Let me know what were your favorite episodes from the week in the comments. But I have to say, Frieren Episode 24 ruled. I will take my leave here. I am writing this article quite late in the night as always. And I can’t help it either because some episodes come out pretty late into the night here. But with that said though, see ya!
