When Go Go Loser Ranger Season 2 started airing, I made an article going over why Season 2 NEEDS to be good. Well, Go Go Loser Ranger Season 2 Episode 5 just dropped and it concluded the first story arc of Season 2. How good has Season 2 been so far, then? Its…a bit complicated to say the least. And that’s what we’re here to talk about today.
We can all agree that the 2nd half of Season 1 was a disaster. Season 1 of Go Go Loser Ranger starts so strong but then around the halfway point, the quality falls off a cliff. Just the pacing alone made the 2nd half atrocious. So Season 2 has this massive burden to fix the sour taste left by Season 1’s 2nd half. So welcome back to another mid-season review and today we are talking about Go Go Loser Ranger Season 2 Episode 5!

What did I think of Go Go Loser Ranger Season 2 Episode 5?
Honestly, this whole Magatia arc was pretty good. D has gotten accepted into the Green squad and their job aligns with what D himself wishes to do i.e. searching and cleaning up the remaining boss monsters. The first one they stumble across is Magatia, the snake who has created an “ideal world” for a certain group of people. Nothing changes in his world and everyone repeats the same daily life. Anyone who breaks the rules of Magatia’s “school” is put in a time loop till either they lose their memory and become a part of the school or till Magatia is killed.
I don’t think that this arc quite reaches the highs of early Season 1 but it was still pretty good overall. It had a lot of twits but the Green Keeper being Chidori is one that I did not see coming. Seriously, it was odd that the Green Keeper was never around in his own office but then you find out that he has been right in front of us throughout the arc lol. Hisui’s backstory was handled really well, in my opinion. Magatia also took the form of a former Green Squad member so that made Hisui’s arc that much better.
As far as complaints go, the Green Keeper identity reveal was a good twist but I wish there were more hints leading up to it. Right now, it comes a bit out of left field and it could’ve been executed better. Secondly, Usukubo didn’t do that much in this arc, sure, she influenced D’s character but that’s about it. And lastly, I wish we dealt with the consequences of Magatia’s defeat a little more. Because there was a good chunk of people who didn’t want to leave that “ideal world” behind.

All in all, it was a flawed but decent arc. Certainly got my interest back in the show.
Also, the whole thing about the Kaiju, it was brought up multiple times throughout this arc. I wonder if that will be relevant later. But those were my thoughts on Go Go Loser Ranger Season 2 so far. With that said, I will take my leave here, see ya!
