Key points for Gushing Over Magical Girls first impressions:
- I wanted to give a heads up – “Gushing Over Magical Girls” has a lot of explicit. If you’re not into that, consider skipping this one. It made me genuinely uncomfortable, and I won’t be continuing it.
- Strangely, despite the explicit content, I have to admit the anime’s animation and art style are impressive. It got me thinking about why shows like this sometimes get top-notch production while others with better stories struggle.
- Personally, I found it hard to get through just two episodes of the show, and I doubt I can handle more. I’m opting out. Let me know your thoughts in the comments. Time to cleanse my mind with a different anime – the new episode of “A Sign of Affection.”
Look in my eyes, what do you see? No, it is not the Cult of Personality. It is the need for therapy. I love my job, but sometimes I am forced to watch stuff like this because of it, and I start to question everything. So I saw Gushing Over Magical Girls pop up quite often on the internet recently. It has a decent score on MAL (7.52 at the time of writing) so I decided to check it out. And I should’ve seen the red flags from the show’s name alone. I didn’t read a plot summary or anything and just jumped in…
If you remember, I called out Chained Soldier for being fan-service-heavy. Oh, this is worse. This is way worse. So yes, this will be the only article I will make on the show. Welcome back to another one of my first impressions articles. Today we are talking about Gushing Over Magical Girls…. Oh boy, strap in this is gonna be hard to do.
What do I think of Gushing Over Magical Girls?
Look, I’ll just come out and say it, no point in holding back the obvious. This anime is soft-core h*ntai. Only watch this if you are really that down bad. I really don’t have an idea why this is even considered an anime at this point, and yes, there is an uncensored version you can find too if you are interested. If you are into BDSM or stuff like that, this show will appeal to you even more. So if any of that tickles your fancy, go ahead and watch it.
As for me… oh boy, this show genuinely made me uncomfortable. I have watched some questionable stuff, and yet still I felt weird watching this show. For those who don’t know, as the title suggests, the show is about someone who is obsessed with magical girls. At first, it is just an adoration as a fan. But then she is given power by the mascot of the evil organization… and you can probably guess where this is going already based on what I’ve told you thus far.
Hey, quick question, why in the hell is this anime’s animations and art style so good? Seriously, the production of this anime is great for whatever reason. Why do shows like this get good production while something that could really use better production like DanMachi always gets shafted by the animations? Even the opening and ending themes are pretty good, what the hell?
That is all for now…
I am not going to continue this anime further. It was pretty hard getting through these two episodes alone, I am not sure if I can take another 10. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. I will go watch the new episode of A Sign of Affection now to cleanse my mind. See ya.
