Hell’s Paradise: First Impressions!

Key takeaways from Hell’s Paradise First Impressions:
- I enjoyed the first episode of the anime Hell’s Paradise.
- Mappa’s animation and character designs are good, as always.
- The opening theme and fight scene pretty good, and I am curios about how the unique environment designs of Hell’s Paradise will be depicted in the anime.
Ah man, I had been looking forward to this anime for such a long time. Back when it was announced last, I got so excited. The fact that Mappa is making this anime adds another layer of excitement to it. Yes, I very much do have my problems with Mappa but, you know that their work is always on point. Hell’s Paradise episode 1 was everything I expected and more.
So welcome back to another first impressions article. The spring season of 2023 is finally here and we have some fantastic animes on our hands. First up on the block for me is Hell’s Paradise this once. I really enjoyed the first episode and here is what I think about it!
What do I think of the first episode?
Gabimaru the Hollow, a rogue shinobu scheduled for execution for trying to leave his village. Someone who apparently has no attachments to life at this point. Yet, he refuses to die. The goverment comes up with a lot of different ways to try and execute him but, he refuses to die. Why? Is he really as hollow as he says or is there something more than he lets on?
Yeah, the plot started off with a blast. They did an absolutely fantastic job of adapting the first few manga chapters. And I love the voice performances of Gabimaru and Sagiri. And man, I have to say, Sagiri looks soo good. I don’t mean it in a weird way, she just looks so good in animation, Mappa did justice to her beaty, man. That is all I will say. The character designs of the backgroud mobs is kind of funny but hey, that is how the manga did it so I am not complaining.
The opening theme is perfect in my opinion. Now the song is a little quirky, probably won’t appeal to everyone but, I think it fits the weird and sinister nature of the story really well. The animations are amazing, as you’d expect from Mappa. The little fight scene towards the end of the episode was so well done. The way they used the swords for imagery and stuff was immaculate and felt really pleasing to the eyes. I am really curious to see how they handle thing on the island. Because Hell’s Paradise has some really unique enviroment designs. So it should be fun to see in the anime.
Conclusion
Well that is it for now, I really loved the first episode of Hell’s Paradise and I look forward to seeeing more. Mappa has been doing a fantastic work so far. I really wish they space their animes out a little more to avoid overworking their staff but, that is something I cannot change. Anyhow, let me know what you guys think in the commets. I really look forward to seeing more of this anime. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!
