But anyway, yeah an anime adaptation of I Became Friends with the 2nd Cutest Girl in My Class has been announced. I have read this LN just because I like to read random LNs occasionally and I think this one is pretty good. So yeah, of course, I had to talk about it with the anime adaptation news and all.

What do we know about the I Became Friends with the 2nd Cutest Girl in My Class anime adaptation?
Production company, Asmik Ace recently opened up an official website for this anime on Friday. The anime will, of course, adapt the LN of the same name by Takata. The official website then went on to reveal the main staff, cast, and a teaser visual for the anime. Hideki Tachibana will be directing the anime at the animation studio Connect. Hideki Tachibana has worked on animes like DanMachi and The Irregular at Magic High School. The anime is scheduled for a 2026 release.
The anime will star Haruki Ishiya, Manaka Iwami, Sayumi Suzushiro, and Ikumi Hasegawa as the main cast. And if it wasn’t already clear from the title, the story is about an introverted guy who becomes good friends with a popular girl. Cliche trope, yeah but the LN has some good character work to compensate. You can check out the announcement teaser here.

My Thoughts
Look, it is no secret that I am a big fan of the romance genre. I am well aware of how common the “introverted guy becomes friends with the popular girl” trope is. But the thing is when used well, this trope can be really effective. A romance anime is always a character-driven story. And if your characters are good, people will become invested in it. And that’s basically what this LN is like. It has tons of typical romance cliches, sometimes they’re very on the nose. But this LN is still really good and worth reading because of how well the characters are handled.
All that, just to say that I really look forward to this anime lol. I think it will be quite good, especially now since all the major romance mangas have concluded.
