I Will NOT Watch Oshi no Ko Season 3

Article at a glance:

  • I used to be genuinely hyped for Oshi no Ko Season 3… until the manga ending punched me in the soul so hard I can’t even look at the anime anymore.
  • Unlike JJK or MHA, where my interest was already fading, Oshi no Ko’s bad ending feels personal, like Akasaka took all my emotional investment and lit it on fire.
  • The story was heading toward a natural conclusion, and then the manga swerved into a nonsensical twist that made the entire journey feel pointless, so why should I sit through Season 3 just to relive that disappointment?

You know, once upon a time, I was pretty excited about Oshi no Ko Season 3. The upcoming arc is pretty strong, and well, I was excited to see it in animations, the usual. But then, well, the manga ending happened, and yeah, I refuse to engage with the anime at this point. Because what even is the point of getting invested once again just to be beaten down by the ending all over again? I have made it very clear that Oshi no Ko’s ending is one of my most hated endings of all time, and I refuse to give it the light of day once again.

Yes, as you can tell, I still haven’t moved on from the manga’s ending. I moved on from the JJK or MHA endings just fine because I had been losing interest in both of those mangas for a while. With Oshi no Ko, though, the bad ending feels personal, and I hate it. So yeah, I am going to yap about Oshi no Ko AGAIN, and I will go over exactly why I refuse to watch or even get excited for Season 3.

Why I won’t watch Oshi no Ko Season 3?

Yes, I know, I already gave you the short version of the answer in the very first paragraph. But allow me to elaborate. You see, Oshi no Ko didn’t have a steady decline in quality like manga manga do in their final arcs. Yes, the final arc WAS weaker compared to the previous arcs, but it was nowhere near as bad as the JJK final arc. It still had stakes, and emotional weight was there. Everything was heading towards a natural, understandable conclusion. And here’s the thing, sometimes the obvious answer is the best answer.

But I don’t know what happened to Akasaka. This man decided to abandon a natural conclusion to his story in favor of pulling off a last-minute twist that made absolutely NO SENSE. And that’s not even all, the manga literally ends with every character being miserable. And Ruby has to live the same life as Ai now. So what was even the point of the whole journey if Ruby ended up being the same as Ai? Out of all the bad manga endings, I feel like THIS one disrespects the reader’s emotions and feelings the most.

Oh, Akane, my beloved, you deserved so much better…

After you invest YEARS into following a manga that has put you through a lot of emotions, the worst thing an author can do is make the whole journey so far feel pointless. And that is EXACTLY what the Oshi no Ko ending does. Yes, this is a very subjective opinion, but fight me. I HATE the Oshi no Ko ending precisely because of how much I cared for this series. So yeah, after going through all that, I just cannot bring myself to watch Season 3 just to get invested again and have my soul crushed by that ending again.

That is all for now

Yeah, that’s enough yapping. Another article where I almost popped a nerve. But unlike the previous one, this is more disappointment than cartoonish anger. And I don’t know which one is worse. But yeah, let me know what you guys think in the comments. I will take my leave here.
