If you remember, I did a list of anime I looked forward to in the Winter 2026 season a while back. And I included this anime as a “surprise” entry in that. Because the premise sounded pretty interesting, and if they pulled the strings right, this could be a really good romance anime. And yeah, we are off to a pretty good start already, I would say. In the Clear Moonlit Dusk Episode 1 was pretty damn good. Now, yes, I do have my issues with the episode, but they’re relatively minor compared to what this episode does do well.
So yeah, welcome back to another first impressions article, a 2nd romance anime article in the same day, just as I promised lol. Today, we are talking about In the Clear Moonlit Dusk Episode 1, so let’s get started!
What did I think of In the Clear Moonlit Dusk Episode 1?
Look, I’ll get my major complaint out of the way first. Ichimura feels a bit too much like a typical Shoujo manga male lead for my preference. I am aware that this is a very early judgment. He’s basically perfect in every single way and became interested in Yoi on the first meeting. There is no history between them to justify this. Obviously, I expect that this issue will be addressed over time. And yeah, this is also a very “me” problem. But still, that’s what I thought about him in the very first episode, at least.
That was my only major complaint. But here’s the thing, that doesn’t even matter because of how well Yoi’s character is done. Yoi is someone who has never been treated like a proper girl by others in her whole life. So she doesn’t know what she’s been missing out on. She doesn’t know how to react to certain things, and that makes her interesting. Pretty clearly, there is a part of her that wishes she could live normally without having to turn down so many girls who approach her. Not that she hates her current life, of course. And this dichotomy works.
Oh yeah, the production on this anime is once again, INSANE. It looks AMAZING. I don’t know what it is with this season, but holy shit, every single anime I’ve watched so far has had immaculate production. Even the soundtracks are good.

Again, I am well aware that the one issue I do have will likely be resolved over time, and it’s a very me problem. But hey, these are my thoughts, I am just being honest.
