The Insipid Prince’s Furtive Grab for The Throne Casts Yoshitsugu Matsuoka & Ai Kayano

The upcoming anime series The Insipid Prince’s Furtive Grab for The Throne has announced two new voice actors joining its cast. Yoshitsugu Matsuoka and Ai Kayano will bring life to the characters Traugott Lakes Aadler and Mitsuba, respectively. Fans can look forward to the series premiering in Japan on July 6, 2026.

Both Matsuoka and Kayano are no strangers to popular anime, having previously voiced Sora and Shiro from No Game No Life. Their involvement adds excitement for viewers anticipating the show’s unique story and setting.

The anime centers on Arnold Lakes Aadler, a prince mocked across the empire for his seemingly dull nature. However, behind the scenes, he hides a secret identity as Silver, a top-tier adventurer who commands forbidden ancient magic. As he fights quietly to claim the throne, the story mixes political intrigue with fantasy action.

The cast already includes notable voice actors such as Yuma Uchida, Kikunosuke Toya, and Maaya Uchida. The series is directed by Yuji Yanase, known for The World’s Strongest Rearguard: Labyrinth Country’s Novice Seeker. Kazuko Tadano and Kazuyuki Fudeyasu assist as the series composer, while MAHO FILM handles animation production.

This anime will be part of Crunchyroll’s Summer 2026 simulcast lineup, making it accessible to fans outside Japan shortly after its debut.

The project originates from a light novel series written by Tanba and illustrated by Yunagi. It first appeared in 2019 under Kadokawa’s Sneaker Bunko imprint and has grown steadily, with 16 volumes published as of April 2026. A 17th volume is set to release in Japan on July 1, 2026. The story also began as a web novel on Shosetsuka ni Naro and features a manga adaptation by Yukino Amagai.

Kadokawa’s Bookwalker Global offers the light novel and manga in English digitally, helping to reach a broader audience. The Insipid Prince’s Furtive Grab for The Throne promises an intriguing tale of hidden strength and royal power. With this talented cast and staff onboard, fans can expect a solid blend of fantasy and drama in the upcoming series.
