Okay, what is going on in the industry right now? We are in a sort of renaissance era in anime right now. So many of the old anime “classics” in a way are coming back either through reboots or unexpected sequel announcements like this. Yes, after about 10 years since season 2 came out, Kimi ni Todoke Season 3 has been confirmed.
So many unexpected sequels in recent memory. Gundam SEED, Black Butler, and Ghost in the Shell is getting a new movie too. Freaking Naruto is getting some 4 episode special too. What the hell is going on? I am not complaining though, maybe we will see that elusive No Game No Life Season 2 announcement one day.
So yeah, welcome back to another news article, Today we are talking about Kimi ni Todoke Season 3. I never thought I’d say those words but never say never I guess, so here we are. Let’s get started.
What do we know about Kimi ni Todoke Season 3?
So this news comes to us courtesy of Netflix Japan of all things. They announced a 3rd season for the anime, it will be exclusive to Netflix and it will come out sometime in 2024. It was also confirmed that the original VAs for the main duo will be making a return. I think then it’d be fair to assume that they will try to keep the rest of the cast the same too. I am not sure if all of them will be able to return though.
Production IG is also returning to animate the show, which is really nice. Hopefully, we keep the same director because Wada Jouji did a pretty amazing job handling the first two seasons. But yeah, no staff members were confirmed, we just know that the Production IG will be back to make it. That is it, for now, I expect to see more announcements regarding this soon. For now, let’s move on to
What do I think?
This is quite a perplexing situation now, isn’t it? I feel like Netflix at this point has reached a good balance with the Anime world. They’re not making disasters like Record of Ragnarok these days. In fact, one of my favorite animes from this season, My Happy Marriage is Netflix-produced. So if we can expect that kind of quality from Netflix-produced anime now, I feel Kimi ni Todoke Season 3 will turn out to be good.
I don’t doubt that the story will be good of course, cause the manga is really sweet. But if recent Netflix anime and their live-action adaptations are anything to go by, it should be fine on the production front too. In fact, Netflix recently made a live-action drama based on this anime, and I think it did pretty well. Which is why they thought of green-lighting a 3rd season for the anime.
Conclusion
So yeah, that is all for now. Talk about a wild week. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. I will take my leave here. See ya!!
