Let’s Talk About Gundam GQuuuuuuX!

Article at a glance:
- Witch from Mercury set a high bar with its emotional storytelling and huge popularity—now Gundam GQuuuuuuX steps up to the plate with some big shoes to fill.
- With killer visuals, standout music, and a plot that already feels ambitious, GQuuuuuuX is shaping up to be something special.
- I’ve checked out the first two episodes, and there’s already a lot to talk about—so let’s dive into my first impressions!

I’ll be honest, I don’t know what I expected from Gundam GQuuuuuuX. Witch From Mercury was a rather serious season with some strong emotional moments and great characters. Witch from Mercury also went on to become the most watched Gundam series, if I am not mistaken. So the expecations placed on GQuuuuuuX are quite high, especially considering SEED recently got some new content as well. So how is GQuuuuuuX? I think it is shaping up to be pretty good, actually.
So welcome back to another one of my first impressions articles and today we are talking about Gundam GQuuuuuuX. Of course, there will be spoilers ahead as there are something from both epiosode 1 and 2 I’d like to talk about. With that said, let’s get started.

My Thoughts on Gundam GQuuuuuuX so far
Firs and foremost, I’d like to praise the art style, animations and the presentation. Gundam has always had top notch animations because Sunrise. But GQuuuuuuX’s art style somehow manages to stand out even in the long history of the series. I love the use of color to highlight different things in a scene. The overall direction and presentation are top tier as well. Also, the music adds so much to it. The BGM varies from epic, heroic orchestral pieces to modern day electronic music. And they use the music so well.
Sunrise was already doing a great job but now you’ve added Khara into the mix and that’s just peak mech anime production team right there. Let’s move on to the plot then. Oh yeah, the opening and ending themes are bangers too. I really like both songs.

Witch from Mercury was all about a war between different corporations, everyone acting in their self interest, trying to get their hands on the Gundam. GQuuuuuuX seems to be somewhat Star Wars inspired as there is an “empire” and a “rebellion”. It is easy to forget just how dark Gundam can get at times and we get a reminder of that fact here right in the first episode.
I also like how they’ve made a very clear distinction between a regular Mobile Suit and a Gundam in GQuuuuuuX. And we already have quite a few interesting plot lines to follow. Captain Char for example seems like such an enigma at the moment. He just disappeared during the second Zeon war. What is the Red Gundam? Why can Yuzuriha move GQuuuuuuX? So we are in a for a treat, let’s just say.
That is all for now
Gundam GQuuuuuuX is off to a good start but will it be as good as Witch from Mercury? That remains to be seen. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!
