I don’t know how many people saw the description of this article. But this manga is by Tatsuki Fujimoto. Some people may have already recognized that name. But for those who don’t know, Tatsuki Fujimoto is the author of Chainsaw Man. And while Chainsaw Man is his first mainstream success, he had been making good mangas for a while. And Look Back is one such manga. He worked on two short mangas between Chainsaw Man Part 1 and 2. The other one is Sayonara Eri.

So yeah, this manga getting an anime adaptation is a big deal. More on that later though. We have many things to cover, so let’s get over the news first. I will also give you a plot summary of the manga while we are at it. So that you know what to expect from this movie. So let’s just get started!

What do we know about the Look Back Anime movie?

The movie is coming out sooner than you might think. The production company Avex Pictures recently opened a website for the anime film and revealed a bunch of details. Look Back is scheduled to hit the screens on 28th June in Japan. Of course, the international release schedule will be different. Kiyotaka Oshiyama will be directing the movie at Studio Durian. We also got a teaser visual and an announcement promo but that’s it for now.

The story follows Fujino. Fujino regularly draws four-panel manga for the school newspaper. Her manga is quite popular among the students. One day, her teacher asks her to turn over one of her slots to a student called Kiyomoto. Kiyomoto barely comes to school but her manga ends up being just as popular as Fujino. Refusing to take the loss, Fujino is hell-bent on getting one over Kiyomoto but that never happens and she eventually gives up on manga. But as fate would have it, Fujino gets asked to deliver Kiyomto’s graduation certificate to her.

What do I think?

A manga like Look Back getting an anime adaptation is kind of a big deal to me. Because often smaller mangas like this don’t get an anime at all. So getting a movie on top of that is pretty amazing, it could’ve been delegated to an OVA or a short series. But I am happy that it is getting the movie treatment because that means a higher budget. I am kind of concerned about the studio though because it’s a relatively new studio and they haven’t really done anything of note. But I hope that they pull through for Look Back.

Also, I hope that this means that Sayonara Eri may also get an anime adaptation in the future.

That is all for now!

Let me know what you guys think in the comments. Look Back is an awesome manga and I highly recommend it. It is pretty short as well so you can finish it in like 15 minutes or less probably. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!!
