My Friend’s Little Sister Has It In for Me… Why am I Watching This?

Article at a glance:

  • I went into My Friend’s Little Sister Has It In for Me expecting a fun little rom-com and some easy “correction” jokes, what I got instead was a weird mix of better and worse than I expected.
  • Turns out this isn’t a rom-com at all, it’s a full-on harem anime, which honestly killed some of my excitement since harems rarely let their characters grow.
  • Still, there’s something oddly intriguing about the setup and characters that keeps me watching, even if I already know I might regret it later.

I have a feeling Blue Archive players are really going to enjoy this show. You know, with the correction memes and all.. Anyways, you ever do something you know you’d probably regret, but the upside is good, so you take the plunge anyway? YEAH, that was me. I thought I would get a decent rom-com out of this show, you know, I’d make all the correction jokes and move on. But My Friend’s Little Sister Has It In for Me kind of let me down in that regard. The show is somehow both better and worse than what I expected.

So welcome to my first Fall 2025 first impressions article. And today I am talking about My Friend’s Little Sister Has It In For Me… yeah, let’s get started.

What did I think of My Friend’s Little Sister Has It In for Me?

At the time of writing, only 2 episodes are out. Of course, not enough to judge the whole show, and there is enough here that I personally will watch for a few more episodes. So right off the bat, I was a little disappointed when I found out that this show is a harem and not a rom-com. Because in a harem show, the status quo doesn’t change since there isn’t a relationship to focus on. And that really stifles character growth. That is why I usually avoid harem anime these days.

But here’s the thing, the plot is quite a bit more interesting than it has any right to be. So the protagonist, Ooboshi Akiteru, is part of a game dev team, and they already put out a decently successful game. But for the future, he wants to join up with his uncle’s company to make a bigger game. But his uncle has a condition. He wants Akiteru to pretend to be his daughter’s boyfriend at the school. She was bullied in her previous school, and because of that, she became a shut-in for a while.

I wish the titular character, Iroha, had more to do, but man, every single time she’s on the screen, it is an absolute joy. She’s such a little demon, it is fun as hell to watch her and Akiteru’s dynamic. I wish I could say the same about Mashiro, the uncle’s daughter, but I’ll give her more time to come around because her backstory is pretty strong as is. Yeah, the show does have quite a few obvious problems, like expository dialogue, but I am willing to give it a shot, and hopefully, it will be somewhat decent.

That is all for now

So let me know what you guys think in the comments. I have no idea what I even expect out of this anime at this point. But I am intrigued enough to give it a few more episodes. With that said, though, I will take my leave here. See ya!
