My Hero Academia Season 6 Review – Awesome!

Key takeaways from My Hero Academia Season 6 – Review

  • My thoughts and opinion on this season
  • To help you decide if this anime is for you or not

Finally, it is time to talk about My Hero Academia Season 6. With episode 23 out this week, I am in a safe spot to finally review this anime. Oh man, what a roller coaster ride this season has been. I don’t think any of the anime onlies expected that this season would mark such a dramatic shift in the tone of the series.

So welcome back to another one of my reviews. Today I am talking about My Hero Academia Season 6. And man, I absolutely loved this season. It is by far the most I have had watching this anime so far and have been looking forward to each episode like crazy. But there are some issues I’d like to address. So let’s get started!

Plot

We continue where we left off in the last season, with the raid on the Nomu hospital. But then so much shit happens during the battle, the whole series is basically different by the time the battle. It is one bombshell, after another during the hospital raid. The sheer number of plot twists and drops in this season is kind of amazing.

Look, I won’t pretend that the plot is the best thing in the world or anything. But the way it is executed in this anime makes all the difference. And how the hospital raid arc ended was probably a huge shock to anime onlies. I absolutely love this new grittier style the anime went with for the 2nd half. More on that later. Now, I do think the whole vigilante thing is kind of stupid because I don’t see the point of it but again, the execution of the whole thing is so good that you will forget small complaints like that.

Characters

We separate out a bit from our usual Class A characters in My Hero Academia Season 6. Only the important characters from Class A get the spotlight. In this season, the spotlight mainly goes to Dabi, Shigaraki, All for One, Endeavor, Todoroki, and Deku. Between the first and second halves, Deku’s character development skyrockets, and well will get more of it in the coming 2 episodes.

Hawks too is such a standout this season. Then, of course, we have the whole Todoroki family backstory bomb. The character writing in this season was definitely better than in the previous seasons. Even side characters that appear for only a few episodes, like Lady Nagant, get some really good character writing.

Animations and Soundtracks

Bones went ham on My Hero Academia Season 6. I love how they almost completely changed the art style to show the shift in the story in the 2nd arc. It is this execution and direction from Studio Bones that makes this anime hit as hard as it did. The BGMs in the past few episodes have been really incredible as well. I don’t like opening themes as much but the 2nd opening is really well-animated for sure.

Conclusion

Here are my final scores for My Hero Academia Season 6

  • Plot – 7/10
  • Characters – 8/10
  • Animations – 9/10
  • Soundtracks – 8/10
  • Enjoyment – 8/10
  • Studio Bones – 10/10
  • Overall – 8/10

I really enjoyed this season of My Hero Academia. The series is coming to a close soon and I really hope they keep this gritty style going forward. Those were my thoughts and opinions on this season though. Let me know yours in the comments below. I will take my leave here, see ya!!
