My Home Hero: First Impressions

Key takeaways from My Home Hero First Impressions:
- The first episode was pretty good with a nice plot and relatable characters. The episode hit hard and ended with a strong emotional impact and a well-executed cliffhanger.
- The show emphasizes the theme of parental protection, highlighting how far the protagonist is willing to go to keep his daughter safe.
- I have some concerns about Tezuka Productions’ track record with anime adaptations but hope that the quality seen in the first episode will continue throughout the series.
I caught onto this anime fairly late in the last season. This wasn’t on my radar for a pretty long time and I came to know about it toward the very end of the winter season. I read the plot of My Home Hero and instantly went “Ok, this could be pretty awesome”. So episode 1 is out, and so far, it looks like I was on the right track.
So welcome back to another one of my first impressions articles. Today we are talking about My Home Hero. Spring season is here and so far the animes I have watched did not disappoint me at all. I honestly did not expect the first episode of this anime to hit as hard as it did. So let’s talk about it today.
What did I think of the first episode?
A parent will do anything in their power to protect their child.
This quote describes My Home Hero perfectly. A struggling author, a perfectly normal human being, trying his best to keep his family happy finds out that his daughter is involved with the wrong sort of guy. What does he do? He kills that guy. He kills the son of a Yakuza boss just to save his daughter from him. What’s more, is that his wife helps him cover up the incident because they know they cannot hope to win against the Yakuza in a lawsuit.
The plot may sound simple, you may even think that it has been done a lot of times before. I won’t debate those claims but there is something about how My Home Hero presents the story that makes it interesting. I am not a parent but because of the presentation, you can feel what Tetsuo is going through. Speaking of which, his character has such a big impact on you right in the first episode. I legit went ahead and hugged my father after watching this episode.

The episode ending was so good too. It is literally the first episode and they left us on a cliffhanger right off the bat. And it was a really good cliffhanger too. I cannot wait for the 2nd episode. I honestly did not expect this kind of quality from Tezuka Productions. I hope they keep this up. I really liked the opening and ending themes too. Serious and on point, like they should be for an anime like this.
Conclusion
That is it for now. The first episode of the series was honestly much better than I expected it to be. I am kind of worried because Tezuka Prods has done a lot of questionable adaptations in the past. We will see how this one goes though. Let me know what you guys thought in the comments though. And yeah, I will take my leave here. See ya!!
