Netflix to Stream Second Live-Action Golden Kamuy Film on July 13

Netflix has revealed plans to stream Golden Kamuy -The Abashiri Prison Raid-, the second live-action movie adaptation of Satoru Noda’s popular Golden Kamuy manga. The film will be available on Netflix starting July 13, complete with English subtitles for international fans.
This sequel follows the first live-action Golden Kamuy film, which premiered in Japan earlier this year and led the box office on its opening weekend. The second film debuted in theaters on March 13, ranking third in Japanese box office sales and benefiting from IMAX screenings.
Kento Yamazaki and Anna Yamada once again star as Saichi Sugimoto and Asirpa, bringing their roles from the previous film. This installment also features new cast members Yū Inaba, Sōkō Wada, and Tetta Sugimoto. Direction comes from Kenji Katagiri of CREDEUS, with Tsutomu Kuroiwa returning to write the script. The film retains Yutaka Yamada as composer, as well as Hiroshi Nakagawa and Debo Akibe supervising Ainu culture and language to ensure authentic representation.
The theme song, “Kowarete Kieru made” (Until It Breaks and Disappears), is performed by the rock group 10-FEET. Fans of the franchise will be familiar with the consistency of the creative team, as the first film and the ongoing live-action series involved many of the same talents.
The Golden Kamuy manga initially ran from 2014 to 2022 and has enjoyed multiple anime seasons, with the final arc airing recently. Netflix previously streamed the first live-action film starting in May, following its successful theatrical run.
With the upcoming Netflix release of the second live-action film, both new viewers and longtime fans can experience more of this gripping tale. The streaming release on July 13 offers a chance to witness the intense story and rich cultural elements that Golden Kamuy is known for, now in high-quality live-action format.
Make sure to mark your calendars for July 13 to catch Golden Kamuy -The Abashiri Prison Raid- on Netflix.
