I know, I used Oshi no Ko for the title last week too. I try not to repeat the animes that go on the titles of these articles. But man, you can’t blame me. Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode 4 and Episode 5 were just that good. And I know that next week’s episode is also going to be a banger already. So Oshi no Ko will probably end up on the title again. Don’t get it twisted though. This week was amazing all around.

I don’t know why Wistoria’s episodes keep feeling shorter and shorter. I didn’t even realize when episode 4 came and went. The 24-minute episode literally felt like it was just 5 minutes long. Tower of God had a very satisfying episode as well. Roze of the Recapture had a much better showing this week compared to last week’s episode and Alya is consistently good as always. There were other episodes I wanted to put on the list as well but I already ended up having 6 episodes so I couldn’t fit in more.

So, welcome back to another Best Episodes of the Week article! This was Summer 2024, Week 5, and an awesome week all around for anime. Let’s talk about everything from Alya Episode 5 to Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode 5! Here are my favorite episodes of the week!

Wistoria Episode 4

Ok, the anime is finally back after taking a break for a week. And this episode was worth the wait. As I said, this whole episode only felt like 5 minutes long. Getting into the episode itself, I like the fact that despite all his extra efforts, Will just isn’t able to keep up with higher-class mages. He could probably beat them in a fight but in classes, he is far behind them. Stuff like this builds character. This also gives more weight to what happened later on in the episode.

Collete asks Will to take part in the upcoming tournament, which would help him get more academic credits. But he refuses, because it’d just look silly if he took part in a mage tournament without being able to use magic. But stuff happens and now he will take part in the tournament. Predictable? Yes. But, the way they executed this development was really good. Again, this builds more character for Will.

Tower of God Season 2 Episode 5

Ok, I think we can all agree that we hate Rachel. Every Tower of God viewer hates Rachel. But this episode increased our hatred tenfold. That sounds wild but it is true. And I am so glad that Khun knows that Rachel betrayed Ban. Given how much he cared for Ban, oh boy, he isn’t going to make it easy for her. I am stopping myself from using that word for Rachel but you know, it is very fitting for someone like her.

The tone shift between the first and second half of the episode was wild. The revelation that Khun knew about Rachel’s betrayal all along was also really well handled. Khun was all gentle in the first half but then in the second half, he showed his fangs. This was his episode for sure. Rachel deserves whatever Khun has in store for her. We did get to see Viole and his party for a while but it was only for the last few minutes of the episode and nothing major happened on their side.

Roze of the Recapture Episode 7

This is how you do a backstory episode properly, I don’t mind exposition dumps but handle it well and this episode handled it really well. And Ash’s backstory was rough. We got pieces of it in the last episode but we got the full version now and it was good. That backstory expanded his character so much. And more than that, I like the effect hearing all that had on Sakuya. She felt bad for “using” him and faking her identity as Roze.

And the ending of the episode pulled a typical Code Geass move. Just when you think you are going to get a big emotional payoff for a character, a huge plot twist happens and the episode just leaves you there on a cliffhanger. And the way the plot twist was handled in this episode was immaculate. Sakuya did something stupid in the last episode and that mistake cost her dearly

Too Many Losing Heroines Episode 4

Did you know that the official website of the anime keeps count of how many calories Yanami is consuming per episode?! That is pretty funny lol. Depression eating is a real thing, you go queen, eat as much as you please. Her character has grown so much on me over time. And I enjoyed this episode so much because of her. I know that the first half of the episode was about Komari and Tsukinoki and while that part was good, Yanami was the stand-out in this episode.

Her best friend dynamic with Nukumizu does so much in the episode and I enjoyed their interactions a lot. Curious to see how their characters progress from this point on. If you haven’t tried it already, I really recommend this anime.

Alya Episode 5

Man, this anime never gets boring, not even for a moment. I know that it sometimes takes a sus turn but I love the dynamic between Yuki and Kuze. Because both of them take every opportunity they get to tease each other. And their interactions are so damn funny. Also a quick shout-out to the English dub of the anime for understanding the assignment. I usually don’t like dubs but this anime’s dub is pretty good.

Yuki and Kuze took the first half of the episode but the queen Alya took over from the second half. Apparently, she had a misunderstanding the whole day that Kuze was acting differently. And she actually got worried about him. But turns out he just didn’t have breakfast and was hungry as hell the whole day. And the interactions that followed were just pure gold lol.

Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode 5

Well, here’s the mandatory paragraph for Akane that I seem to do every week at this point. I mean, you can’t blame me. This season is hellbent on selling Akane to me in particular. I get it, bro, I liked her enough as is, you don’t need to do all this. She outright agreed to help Aqua take revenge for Ai. And like she probably would’ve helped him even if she didn’t know about Ai. So she’s pretty, cute, smart, talented and has a few screws loose? Hell yeah, sign me up.

Moving on though, holy hell the brief stage scenes we got in this episode were full of aura. Taichi Himekawa steals the screen whenever he gets into his character and that one second he got in this episode is just burned into my mind. That is how good his portrayal is. And then the last scene of this episode is what made me put “Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode 5” on the title. I don’t know what Aqua and Gotanda came up with to improve Aqua’s acting but the moment you see the “star” in his eye turn black after he vomits upon seeing a pic of Ai, you know it is real.

The next episode is about to be even crazier.

That is all for now!
