Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode 7 was…

Article at a glance:

  • Season 2 shifts focus from plot-driven narratives to in-depth character development, especially highlighting Akane, Kana, and Melt’s growth.
  • Aqua’s upcoming spotlight is eagerly anticipated, with expectations for a significant character episode likely in Episode 9.
  • Currently rated 8.5/10, with potential for a 9 depending on future episodes, particularly Aqua’s development.

Ok, Oshi no Ko is just edging me at this point. After the end of episode 5, I was ready to see Aqua do something crazy on the stage. Like, I get that it is a play and what he did to prepare was before the play. But still, man I was ready to see him own the stage but I have not gotten that so far. But here’s the thing though, both Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode 6 and Episode 7 were bangers in their own right so I can’t even complain.

Seriously, the character development Melt and Akane have gotten in the recent episodes is quite something. So welcome back to another mid-season review and today we are talking about Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode 7 and Season 2 in general. There are a lot of things Season 2 has been doing well so let’s get started.

What did I think of Oshi no ko Season 2 Episode 7?

I think I’ve said it enough times already but Akane is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters in the series thanks to this arc. And Episode 7 showcased why she doesn’t like Kana. Kana was the whole reason why Akane started acting. And we all know that some “stuff” happened to Kana and her acting isn’t as “dominant” now as it was back when she was a kid. Akane fell in love with that dominant acting and she wants to see it back. Just to beat her rival at her best. And I can understand that. Even Aqua feels the same way.

So I am pretty sure next week’s episode will be a Kana-focused episode. At the end of this episode, Aqua and Akane decide to force out the “old” Kana, after all. And of course, in the previous episode, we had some good character development for Melt too. His backstory and development came out of nowhere, I did not expect to see it but I appreciate it. His character is pretty relatable thanks to all that. And I also love how we’ve been getting shreds of character progression for Aqua as well throughout these early episodes.

His focus episode should be episode 9, as I said, I think it is pretty likely that next week we’ll get a Kana-focused episode. Season 2 has been focusing way more on characters whereas Season 1 was more plot-driven. All the important plot points of Season 2 have also been character-driven so far. And I respect that. So even though Season 2 doesn’t have the shock value Season 1 did, I think it is still very well-written.

That is all for now

Oshi no Ko Season 2 is an easy 8.5/10 for me right now, I might bump it up to a 9 depending on how they handle Aqua’s episode but yeah, episode 6 and episode 7 were awesome. And I can’t wait to see what the future episodes hold. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. And I will take my leave here. See ya!

Also, again, I love what they’ve done with Akane’s character.
