Oshi no Ko Season 3 will be the Last Good Season of the Anime

Article at a glance:

  • Oshi no Ko Season 3 is set for a 2026 release and will adapt some of the best parts of the manga, including Chapter 122.
  • The author, Akasaka, has a history of strong storytelling that ultimately falls apart in later arcs, and Oshi no Ko follows the same pattern.
  • The manga’s ending was so bad that it soured the entire series for me and many others but I still recommend enjoying Season 3 before the downfall starts in Season 4.

Man, I wrote an article on Oshi no Ko Seaso 3n a while ago as well. Back when Season 3 was just announced following the amazing conclusion of Season 2. I was so happy and excited back then. Now seeing anything related to Oshi no Ko just makes me sad. What happened? Well, the manga ended in the worst possible way. No, I am not exaggerating, the ending was bad enough to sour the taste of the whole series for me. So yes, please enjoy Season 3 as much as you can as it will cover some of the best parts of the manga.

But from Season 4 onwards, it will be all downhill. More on that later though. First, let’s go over all the news we got recently. I will get into the spoiler discussion later on, of course, I’ll warn you before getting into it. Let’s talk about Oshi no Ko Season 3 today then.

Oshi no Ko Season 3 Update

Well, we know that Season 3 is not coming this year. The release window we got Season 3 is of 2026. Doga Kobo hasn’t specified a season yet but I think it will early on in 2026. We got a teaser trailer and a teaser visual for Season 3 as well. The teaser trailer is really good, Ruby’s VA, Yurie Ignoma does such a great job in that teaser. And I think most of the former staff will reprise their roles for Season 3 at Doga Kobo as well.

And let’s move on to the spoiler discussion

My Thoughts

I genuinely mean it when I say that Season 3 will be good. Chapter 122, widely considered to be one of the best chapters of the manga falls under Season 3. We will get a lot of good character development for both siblings in the upcoming arc. How the twins reveal their previous identities to one another in 122 is so well done. Sure, the incest stuff in 123 does somewhat undercut the emotional impact of 122 but still, in the grand scheme of things, 122 is an amazing chapter and is good enough to carry Season 3 on its back.

And of course, that is not all. There is a lot more good stuff that will be featured in Season 3. Enjoy Season 3 as much as you can because from Season 4 onwards the downfall will be set in stone. Akasaka is working on another manga, DO NOT be fooled by him again. He will write Peak for about 70% of the manga before that too falls off a cliff. The same happened to Kaguya-sama. The same happened to another one of his romance mangas. DO NOT fall for his work again. He does not know how to conclude a story.

That is all for now

No, it does not feel good writing an article like this. Because just a few months ago, I used to care for this series a lot. Now I feel dumb for doing so. Akasaka wasted the time and investment of so many people with that terrible ending. I will still watch Oshi no Ko Season 3, as should you, just to remind myself of how good this series once was. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya.
