Our Precious Conversations, Manga Recommendation of the week!

Key points for Manga Recommendation – Our Precious Conversations:

  • Our Precious Conversations stands out for its distinctive take on romance, centered around debates and conversations between the main characters.
  • The manga integrates character development seamlessly into the plot, particularly with Shirou’s evolving views on romance, adding depth to the story.
  • The main characters, Nozomi and Shirou, are well-written and contribute significantly to the manga’s appeal, overshadowing the somewhat standard Shoujo art style.

Before we start, I want to acknowledge that this manga might not be for everyone. It isn’t very easy to make a romance story that appeals to everyone. This is especially true for stories that touch on sensitive topics. But I still say at least give Our Precious Conversations a try. You might actually end up liking this manga and how different its approach to romance is.

So welcome back to another edition of our manga recommendation series. This week we are talking about the interesting “Our Precious Conversations”. I randomly found this manga and checked it out. And I found its approach to romance interesting so I wanted to talk about it. So let’s get started.

Introduction

Our Precious Conversations is written and illustrated by Rpbico. It was serialized in the Dessert magazine from August 2015 to December 2019. The manga is pretty short at just 37 chapters compiled into 7 volumes. There is no anime adaptation to speak of, which I do find odd. But nothing we can do about it. And of course, it is a Shoujo Romance manga, if it wasn’t obvious already.

Plot

As the name suggests, the plot involves conversations. Although, not the kind you might express. See, Nozomi has a crush on Shirou. One day, she works up her courage, follows him to the station, and finally confesses to him. But, things turn into a heated debate as Shirou starts ranting out about his views on romance and the opposite gender. And of course, they have these “conversations” well, debates more accurately, and through them, they start getting closer.

This is what I meant when I said that this manga has an interesting approach to romance. I like how Shirou’s character arc is pretty much baked into the plot. Romance stories don’t really rely on the plot to reel people in, they focus on characters. But having a foreseeable character arc built into the plot is interesting and it keeps you invested even more.

Characters

I already talked about how important Shirou’s character arc is in the series. And sure enough, he realizes that his views on romance and females are not right. He has reasons for he thinks that way and they are quite understandable. His family is quite something, after all. And I love the part Nozomi plays in making him realize the errors of his views. I wish the side characters were a little more fleshed out but, you won’t notice them most of the time because of how well the main duo are written. Still, they serve their purpose well enough.

Art

The art isn’t bad by any means but it is your standard Shoujo manga art. Nothing really stands out, even the character designs aren’t that unique. This isn’t a huge issue though as the art isn’t bad or anything, it just doesn’t stand out.

Summing Up

Here’s why you should check out Our Precious Conversations;

  • Interesting approach to romance
  • Good plot
  • Great characterization of the main duo

That is all for now! Let me know what you guys think in the comments. I will take my leave here. See ya!
