Summary of the movie’s plot, focusing on Ichika and a struggling version of Miku, and personal anticipation for the film’s potential success and quality.

Well, well, well, Hatsune Miku finally has a proper anime. Is it too late considering that Miku is one of the biggest icons of anime culture? Maybe. But better late than never, a Project Sekai adaptation is also a good way to go about it. The movie’s story does sound interesting but, let’s be honest, Miku’s popularity alone will likely be enough to carry this movie. She is the pioneer when it comes to vocaloids and virtual singers after all.

I will start with a brief introduction to Project Sekai first since I am sure a lot of people aren’t familiar with it. Unless you are big on rhythm games, that is. And then we will move on to cover the news. We got a huge cast list with the announcement but I am not going to cover all of it simply because of how big it is. With that said, let’s get started right away.

What do we know about the Project Sekai movie?

A little about the games first. It is a rhythm game developed by Colorful Palette and Published by Sega. It is a spin-off of Sega’s Hatsune Miku: Project Diva series. Of course, Miku herself was made by Crypton Future Media. The game was originally released in 2020 for Android and iOS with worldwide releases following in 2021 and 2022. As for the anime, it will be made by PA Works. It will be directed by Hiroyuki Hata and it will star voice actors like Saki Fuhita, Asami Shimoda, Yuu Akasawa, etc. The cast list is huge as I mentioned.

As for the plot, the subtitle of the movie “A Miku Who Can’t Sing” pretty much sums it up. The plot follows Ichika, a high school girl and a street musician who meets a different version of Miku after hearing an unknown Miku song. This version of Miku is struggling to reach her audience with her music. So Ichika teams up with her to help her capture the hearts of the audience. You can check out the teaser trail here. The movie is scheduled to hit Japanese theatres on 17th January 2025.

my Thoughts

I don’t even know what to say here. I have not played Project Sekai before, or any of the other Project Diva games for that matter. But I know that they’re famous and they’re famous for a reason. And the plot of the movie intrigues me is all I can say here lol. But I do know that this movie will probably make a lot of money given how popular Miku still is. It just needs to be decent. I am trusting PA Works here, they’ve worked on some pretty good anime in the past so I hope they don’t mess this one up either.

That is all for now!

So yeah, let me know what you guys think in the comments. I will take my leave here. I do look forward to seeing what this movie has to offer. And finally having a Hatsune Miku anime does feel good. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!
