What a wild week it has been. From going to being excited as hell about Cody finally beating Roman for the WWE Championship and finishing his story. To The Rock becoming the most divisive figure in wrestling overnight. Well, my obsession with wrestling aside, anime is one thing that constantly kept me happy and entertained throughout this week even when I was frustrated. Also, I chose Ragna Crimson Episode 16 for the title because… just what the hell is going on in that anime LOL.

That’s not all we have to talk about though. Can’t forget Frieren giving us a great conclusion to a great mini-arc this week, Ayanokoji going full god-mode, and The Dangers in My Heart and A Sign of Affection doing what they do the best. It was a stacked week and once again, I still think next week will be even better.

But you know how this goes. Welcome back to another edition of the Best Episodes of the Week. It is the 5th week of the Winter 2024 season. We are almost halfway through the season already. And here are my favorite episodes of the week!

Classroom of the Elite Season 3 Episode 5

This episode was great. The season was building up tension gradually and all of the culminated in this episode Sakayanagi moved forward with her plan to shatter the unity of Class B. Of course, Ayanokoji helped out Ichinose a little against Sakayanagi. I like how minor his advice was and yet it worked so well. That is not what he was after though. Now, yes, Ichinose does owe him a favor but that really isn’t what any of this was about. He even went ahead and accepted a challenge from Sakayanagi.

It is later revealed that the whole rumor thing happened because Ayanokoji wanted to confirm the quality and quantity of information Kushida has. Seriously, my man had been playing 5D chess this whole time. And I don’t think anyone even realized it. Awesome episode, and a great ending, I hope the season keeps going like this.

A Sign of Affection Episode 5

I think I recently mentioned that there are only a few anime that I consider to be diabetes-inducing levels of sweet and this anime is one of them. A Sign of Affection Episode 5 felt like a big deal because I feel like Itsuomi and Yuki’s relationship grew in a significant way in this episode. There is nothing much to this episode, really, it is just Itsu and Yuki having a nice long chat for the most part.

I love how Itsu simply walks in to meet Yuki the next day to continue their conversation from the previous night. The way Itsu and Yuki grew closer over time has been handled really well. And I can’t wait to see more of that in the upcoming episodes.

The Dangers in My Heart Season 2 Episode 5

It is crazy to think that a few weeks ago, I wasn’t even considering watching this anime. I didn’t really like the first half of season 1 that much. But after seeing the high ratings of season 2, I sat through season 1. And this series really picked in the last few episodes of season 1 and now all of that momentum is being carried over to season 2. One of the things I appreciate the most about this anime is how it portrays the awkwardness in the early stages of dating. Especially since Ichikawa is an extreme introvert.

The awkwardness comes naturally and adds to the charm of his and Yamada’s relationship. After the recent episode though, I really do think that they they should just start going out together officially. This episode served as a great way of reminding us why Ichikawa likes Yamada and Yamada revealing how Ichikawa helped her fall in love with her job and how she is proud of it now. The character work Yamada has been getting recently has been fantastic.

Frieren Episode 21

This was such a fitting close to this mini-arc. The episode was pretty heavy on the action as expected and it delivered. Frieren analysing and breaking Serie’s barrier over the arena was animated beautifully. Frieren may not use flashy moves while fighting but she is really good at using the environment to her advantage, We also got a great flashback scene between Serie, Flamme, and Frieren. Even back then, it was pretty evident just how much Frieren loves studying magic.

The side characters for this arc were so good too. The two girls who were in Frieren’s party did well in their fight. The moment Frieren released the barrier, the fight was in the hands of the girls. And they didn’t miss it. The imperial mage old man is such a cool character too. He didn’t give up till the very end and he literally resorted to punching since he was out of mana LOL. That’s pretty based if you ask me.

Ragna Crimson Episode 16

Finally. Ragna Crimson Episode 16. Where do I even start? The ending of the last episode was unpredictable as is but this week kinda left that in dust LOL. This episode pretty much revolved around the remnants of the Silverine Corps and Starlia making their way to Zora’s physical body to kill him. And I have no idea what’s going on with Zora at this point. I know that he and Taratectora served a princess in the past and seeing Starlia fight reminded Zora of that princess. Crimson counted on this as the perfect opportunity to attack Zora.

And it worked, Zora would’ve died by now if it wasn’t for Taratectora snapping him out of… yeah, I don’t know what’s going on with Zora at this point. He even refused to summon Kamui as well. Let’s see how things progress from here on.

That is all for now!

Another long week comes to a close and those were all the episodes I enjoyed. Let me know yours in the comments. I will take my leave here, I desperately need some sleep see ya!!
