Ron Kamonohashi Looks Interesting

Key points from Ron Kamonohashi First Impressions:

  • I was really impressed by the unexpected twist at the end of the first episode of Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective. It added a unique dimension to what initially seemed like a standard detective anime.
  • I’m looking forward to seeing how the dynamic between Ron and Toto unfolds. Toto’s naivety and Ron’s peculiar investigative methods create an intriguing combination that should make the series quite enjoyable.
  • In my opinion, the episode deserves a solid 8/10. The unexpected turn of events and the potential for entertaining character interactions left me wanting more. I’d love to hear others’ thoughts in the comments.

So I knew absolutely nothing about this series before going in. I just picked it up after hearing a friend talk about it and I didn’t know what to expect. And well, it is at times like these when it is really easy to be impressed. Ron Kamonohashi did just that.

The episode leads you to think that this will be a normal detective anime with some fun cases only to pull the rug out from under you at the end. I really liked that little twist at the end.

So yes, welcome back to another one of my first impressions article. Today we are talking about Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective. There will beΒ spoilers for the first episode ahead. So please only continue if you have watched the episode.Β With that out of the way, let’s start.

What do I think of Ron Kamonohashi?

That spoiler warning was important because of the huge reveal at the end of the episode. The whole episode hinges on that reveal in a way. As I said, the episode builds up as your average detective anime, a no-good detective tries to get a genius out of exile to help with a complicated case. Ron solves the case in minutes, which had an interesting build-up on its own.

But then right at the end, it is revealed that Ron somehow “supernaturally” ends up forcing the criminals to kill themselves. And when he comes to, they’re already dead. But he cannot stop himself from working on a case once he hears about it. That is why he started living like a hermit and completely cut himself off from the world. But he finds a perfect partner in Toto, who is so simple and naive that he jumps to save the criminal without a second thought.

A pretty simple first episode but the reveal at the end made up for it. It was entertaining but the whole ending sequence made the episode stand out in my opinion. Since I had no idea about the series, that sequence really did catch me off-guard. I look forward to seeing more of their dynamic in the future and Ron’s odd method of investigation. Those two things combined with Ron’s “issues” should make for an entertaining watch.

I just hope that they’re able to maintain the standard and pacing of the cases across 12 episodes.

That is all for now!

Pretty strong introduction, especially for first-time watchers like me, I have to say that I am very interested in Ron Kamonohashi now. The episode gets an easy 8/10 from me. Let me know what you guys thought in the comments. I will take my leave here. See ya!!
