Saikin Yatotta Maid ga Ayashii – First Impressions

Man, this anime is gold. No no, I do not have a maid fetish…well, maybe I do, a little bit. But common guys, this anime is great. Only one episode of it is out and I am already a fan. I… I have to say I am a bit jealous of the MC on some level but, he is funny as well. Saikin Yatotta Maid ga Ayashii is a complete package, it is fun as hell to watch.

This anime is very much one of those where you can’t help but laugh just by reading the plot. I really find this anime entertaining and I think more people should check it out. I know a certain group of individuals will absolutely love it… I may/may not be a part of those individuals. But, that’s beside the point. I’ll start off with a brief introduction to Saikin Yatotta Maid ga Ayashii and then give my thoughts on it so far.

Introduction

Saikin Yatotta Maid ga Ayashii is based on the manga of the same name by Konbu Wakame. The manga started its serialization rather recently on 22nd January 2020 in the Gangan Joker magazine. It is a slice of life, comedy anime for the most part with a bit of romance sprinkled in for fun. The anime is being made by Silver Link (of course) and Blade studios and it started airing just last week.

So Saikin Yatotta Maid ga Ayashii is pretty much what it says on the tin. There is this kid, Yuuri who loses his parents and so his servants have to leave his service. But, one day a mysterious maid approaches and asks to work at his place for free as long as he lets her stay in the house. Yuuri agrees at the moment but, he suspects that she might be plotting something because she’s so perfect in her duty. That is literary it, it just continues from here.

What do I think of Saikin Yatotta Maid ga Ayashii so fat?

Well, only one episode of the series is out but I’ll say it right now, I love this series. The fact that Takahashi Rie, RieRi voiced Lilith makes Saikin Yatotta Maid ga Ayashii 100 times better. If you know the VA’s tastes, this anime is very much her thing. I can see she’s gonna enjoy the hell out of this role and I can’t wait to see… well, hear more of her awesome work. And Saori Hayami is voicing Yuuri?! What in hell? Ok, I like it.

The animations are pretty ok but, but I will give credit to the direction. Saikin Yatotta Maid is pretty well directed. Some of the scenes from Yuuri’s perspective are extremely well done. All in all, this is very fun to watch anime, knowing the VA’s background makes it even better for sure. I… I never knew I wanted to see an anime with Hu Tao teasing Ayaka (if you know what I mean) but, I am sure as hell glad that I got one.

Conclusion

So well, I really look forward to more of this anime, this is going to end up as a lot of people’s “guilty pleasure” anime most probably but, I don’t care. I think we all can enjoy and appreciate this anime on some level. With that said though, I will take my leave here. See ya!
