Shinobi no Ittoki, Mid-Season Review!

So I purposefully picked this anime for a mid-season review first off from the season. I wanted to do The Eminence in Shadow too but, that has been blowing up quite a bit. Especially after that recent episode so yeah, I’m starting off with Shinobi no Ittoki. This anime genuinely deserves more praise for trying something different. And it has been getting quite a bit interesting in recent episodes.

So welcome back to another one of my mid-season reviews, today we are talking about Shinobi no Ittoki. It is quite an interesting anime, very different from what I imagined it to be. There is a lot I want to say, so let’s get started right away!

What do I think about the anime so far?

So Shinobi no Ittoki starts with a normal guy, going to school, and having totally normal dreams and life. One day a girl confesses to him and he decides to date her even after his mother’s warnings. Well, turns out, his mother’s worries were true as the girl immediately tries to kill Ittoki the moment they are alone. Ittoki learns that he is the future head of a major ninja clan, the Iga clan.

Right off the bat, Shinobi no Ittoki has an interesting premise of bringing the classic Koga vs. Iga conflict to the modern day. Yes, all the ninja tricks exist but they have been sci-fi’d now. The sci-fi element also brings a lot of interesting changes to the classic ninja tropes we are all familiar with. And it also gives a little bit of world-building as we do learn a little about how all the ninja gadgets are made. There is a whole clan dedicated to making these gadgets.

Shinobi No Ittoki - Ninja Ittoki - 忍の一時

Far as the characters are concerned, a lot of interesting things are going on here. Not everyone is as friendly as they seem. Ittoki is a pretty interesting character, he is thrust into this world full of decades-old conflict yet he refuses to let anyone or himself die. He doesn’t even seek revenge against his “enemy” and somehow, he doesn’t come off as a wussy. I like him. Also, Kousetsu is really cool, she’s my favorite character in the show so far.

Put simply, Shinobi no Ittoki is kind of like Classroom of the Elite but in a Ninja School instead. The animations and art style are pretty good and the opening theme is rather good as well. I have been enjoying this anime a lot so far. It is something new and interesting and it is quite fun. For now, I’d give this an easy 8/10. Preliminary rating, of course, may change with the final review.

Let me know what you guys think in the comments. And yeah, I will take my leave here, I have to go and farm a big green cube. See ya!!
