Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 9 Was Really Good

Article at a glance:
- Episode 9 shifts from action to heartfelt moments, showcasing Jinwoo’s emotional vulnerability as he achieves his long-term goal of curing his mother.
- The reunion between Jinwoo, his mother, and Jinah is handled with subtle yet powerful emotions, adding weight to the story.
- With his goal accomplished, Jinwoo now faces a turning point—what will drive him to keep fighting?

Given how high-octane action-filled Solo Leveling Season 2 has been, I didn’t expect episode 9 to be so heartfelt and emotional. I mean, sure, it wasn’t anything crazy like 3-Gatsu no Lion levels of emotional, but still, this episode surprised me, given the overall tone of Solo Leveling. Seeing Jinwoo emotionally and mentally vulnerable for once also added to the weight. He achieved his big long-term goal in this episode, and his expressions said everything.
Yes, I am using vague language on purpose as I don’t want to spoil right off the bat in the first paragraph. I will get into spoilers just a little later. I didn’t plan on writing another article on Solo Leveling till its review time in a few weeks. But I just had to talk about Episode 9. So welcome back to another article, today we are talking about Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 9. Let’s get into it.

Of course, spoilers ahead.
What did I think of Solo Leveling Season 2 Episode 9?
In the last episode, we saw Jinwoo finally clear the 100th floor of the dungeon and collect all the ingredients needed for the Elixir of Life. Episode 9 starts with him successfully creating the Elixir and rushing to the hospital to his mother’s side. And sure enough, the Elixir cures his mother. And the scene that plays out after Jinwoo’s mom wakes is so well done. Jinwoo doesn’t say much; he just answers her questions, and I like how she doesn’t speak much either, just calmly enquires about how long it has been since she fell ill.
And of course, Jinah visits her in the morning and immediately jumps to hug her. I can only imagine how it felt to see her mom awake again after 4 long years. What I find interesting is that upon returning home, she asks Jinwoo if he has heard from his father again. So I wonder if she knows what Jinwoo’s dad has been up to these days. The more important question is, now that Jinwoo has achieved his long-term goal, what will convince him to keep fighting? There’s a good opportunity for some great character work here.

It would be really interesting to see what transpires in the upcoming episodes. As I said, I didn’t plan on writing this article but the moment when Jinwoo’s mom wakes up and her reaction to returning home after so long was so well done. I also like how Jinwoo thought about his mother for a second before replying to the request to join the Jeju Island raid. But yeah, man, despite not having any action, Episode 9 was really well done.
That is all for now
