Star Detective Precure Movie Reveals Main Visual and Characters

The upcoming Star Detective Precure movie has just revealed its main visual along with new still images. Officially titled “Eiga Meitantei Pucure! Fushigi na Niwa to Futari no Himitsu” (Star Detective Precure! The Mysterious Garden and The Secret of the Two), the film will hit Japanese theaters on September 18, 2026.

This movie introduces three original characters: Karin and two fairies named Fran and Rain. The story centers on protecting Karin, who lives in a mysterious garden, from a threat called “Dame dame.” A strange X-mark appears that stops objects from moving, intensifying the mystery. Rain asks for help to keep Karin safe, setting the stage for new adventures.

Hanako Ueda, known for her work as assistant director on Zom 100, is directing the film. Emiko Miyamoto, who previously worked on Witchy Precure!, handles the character designs. This marks another exciting chapter in the Pretty Cure franchise.

The Star Detective Precure TV series started airing in Japan earlier this year, on February 1, 2026. The anime follows Anna Akechi, a girl who mysteriously time slips from 2027 back to 1999 on her 14th birthday. There, she meets Mikuru, who dreams of becoming a detective. Together, they become Detective Precure and solve cases involving Phantom Thieves. The show mixes elements of friendship, courage, and mysteries tied to Anna’s journey through time.

Star Detective Precure is the 23rd series in the long-running Pretty Cure franchise, which first launched in 2004 with Futari wa Precure. The TV anime is directed by Koji Kawasaki, with Isao Murayama as series composer and Akane Yano as the character designer. The main cast features Hikari Senga as Cure Answer (Anna Akechi), Kaede Hondo as Cure Mystic (Mikuru Kobayashi), and Nao Toyama as Cure Arcana Shadow (Ruruka Moria).

Fans can expect the movie to deliver the same blend of mystery, magic, and heartwarming stories that the TV series offers. With fresh characters and a captivating premise, it’s shaping up to be a must-watch addition to the Pretty Cure lineup.

Keep an eye out for more updates as the September release approaches!
