The Curious Case of One Punch Man Season 3

Key points for One Punch Man Season 3 speculations:

  • We’ve been eagerly awaiting any news on One Punch Man Season 3 since its announcement in August 2022. Unfortunately, there’s been a complete lack of updates, leaving fans in suspense about its release and the studio behind it.
  • Today, Yusuke Murata took to Twitter to dispel any rumors linking his animation studio to One Punch Man Season 3. Despite earlier speculation, his studio is not involved, adding another layer of mystery to the anime’s production.
  • While there’s a chance that Mappa might take on One Punch Man Season 3, I’m skeptical. Considering Mappa’s relatively quiet year after the challenges with Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, I doubt they want to take on more high-profile IPs and risk potential backlash if things don’t go smoothly.

I had been thinking about making an article like this for a while now. But something very interesting happened today and I just had to talk about that. So I finally decided to stop delaying this article, I do think I have more than enough content to make this article work. As the title suggests, we are going to be discussing just what the hell is going on with One Punch Man Season 3.

I don’t even know what to call this article. But we will be going over everything we know about One Punch Man Season 3, talk about the recent development, and speculate a little as well. So let’s just get right into it.

What do we know about One Punch Man Season 3?

In short, nothing. We know absolutely nothing about OPM Season 3, yet it remains one of the most highly-anticipated releases. We don’t know when it’s coming out, we don’t even know who is making it. OPM Season 3 was announced all the way back in August 2022. And we have had no updates on it ever since. The highly-acclaimed first season was made by Madhouse and the 2nd season was made by JC Staff. But neither of those studios have been confirmed to be working on this anime.

Yusuke Murata, the guy who draws the illustration for the OPM manga announced a while ago that he is founding a new animation studio. A lot of people were wondering if his studio would be the one making OPM Season 3. Even though it was announced earlier that his studio was working on an original project instead, Yusuke Murata once again confirmed on Twitter today that his studio has nothing to do with the production of OPM Season 3. So what the hell is going on here?

Now, let’s get into some speculation. And one name stands head and shoulders above the rest here.

Will Mappa take One Punch Man Season 3?

It is possible. I don’t think they will but it is certainly possible. Let me give you my reasoning behind why I don’t think they will. Mappa seems to be “laying low” this year after the blunder that was Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 last year. If you remember, last year was absolutely stacked with Mappa releases in all seasons. This year? Not so much. So while it is completely possible, I don’t think Mappa wants the burden of more high-profile IPs. Because if they mess up like Jujutsu Kaisen last year, they’ll be in for even more backlash.

That is all for now!

So yeah, those were my thoughts and speculations on the whole One Punch Man Season 3 situation. At this point, the community is just begging for more details. It has been a year and a half since the initial announcement and still no updates. Let me know what you guys think in the comments, I will take my leave here. See ya!
