Key points for The Faraway Paladin Season 2 First Impressions
- Season 2 of The Faraway Paladin may not match the intensity of its Season 1 opening, but it maintains a unique identity with a distinct magic system and world.
- William G. Maryblood’s growth as the Faraway Paladin is showcased, along with thoughtful moments like city planning. The episodes delve into world-building, exploring the Academy and the importance of Lords of the Forest.
- Episode 2 sets the stage for the Rust Mountain King arc, promising more depth to the storyline. The heartwarming conversation between Menel and Will adds emotional depth, leaving viewers excited for what’s to come.
I think we all already knew that Season 2 was not going to beat the opening arc of Season 1. Season 1 of The Faraway Paladin is I think a gold standard for anime introductions in general. The first 4-5 episodes of that season were just amazing. What about The Faraway Paladin Season 2 though?
Well, despite not being anywhere as impactful as the first episodes of Season 1, I am glad to see that the series still has an identity. It has a lot of common fantasy/isekai elements in it but the show still has a pretty unique magic system and world.
So what do I think of the two episodes released so far? Well, that is what we are here to talk about. Welcome back to another first impressions article today we are talking about The Faraway Paladin Season 2. Let’s start!
What do I think of The Faraway Paladin Season 2 so far?
William G. Maryblood has grown quite famous as the Faraway Paladin and has accomplished a lot in a short time. It was cool to see the episode open with Will discussing plans for the future of his city with Menel. And my guy is already thinking about how to sustain the city’s economy 10-20 years down the line. I love little bits of character moments like these. And then the episode dove nicely into a little bit of world-building as well.
The first episode was mostly about Will and Bee visiting The
Academy of Raya Lucaria Magic Academy as Bee wanted to look up something in their library. It was a decent episode, it gave us a nice look into Bee’s outlook on things and just how highly she thinks of Will and all others who sacrificed their lives to protect people. But in my opinion, the second episode was just better.
The 2nd episode gives us even more world-building as we learn that the forests are sustained by ancient animals or trees called Lords of the Forrest. The forest near the city was dying as twin lords ruled over the forest (one for each half of the year) and the ruling authority could not be transferred on time. We learn that elves can carry the authority of the lord and can even become lords themselves in the future. Menel and Will save the other lord and he gives us the prophecy that sets up the upcoming Rust Mountain King arc.
Menel’s conversation with Will towards the end of episode 2 was just heartwarming. And if it is anything like episode 2, I am pretty excited for the upcoming arc.
That is all for now!
Let me know what you guys think in the comments. I won’t bring up Season 1 again here because I have talked about it a lot already. The Faraway Paladin Season 2 so far has been pretty decent and I think just for episode 2, I can give it an easy 8/10 for now. With that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!
