I was not going to check out this anime initially, but I ended up doing so anyway out of sheer curiosity. You know, the content creator’s brain is weird at times. Because of that, I’ve watched my fair share of bullish!t over the years. Thankfully, The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses is pretty good.
Yes, the name is weird and may turn people off, but it is a perfectly serviceable rom-com. It is not groundbreaking or anything, but it is a decent watch if you are always hungry for rom-coms like me.
So welcome back to another first impressions article; today, I am talking about The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses. So let’s get started.
What do I think about The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses?
I usually don’t jump straight to the animation, but man, the use of CGI in this anime is pretty good. The first episode has a lot of these establishing shots of different locations, and they’re all done in CGI; lots of impressive perspective shots of characters to go along with that too. I don’t think the animations are allΒ CG, but the smart use of CG in this anime, for 3D shots in particular, is well-done. The art style also blends in well with the CG, and the character models are pretty good too.
Now plot-wise, this anime is nothing special. It is pretty much what you’d imagine after reading the title. One thing I kinda like here is that Mie doesn’t always forget her glasses on purpose; as baffling as it sounds, she has had a history of forgetting her glasses; sometimes, she even breaks them because of how much of Klutz she is. And yep, sometimes she loses them too. Although I am sure, there will be more future occasions where she will purposefully forget them instead, we know how it goes. It is a romance anime, after all.
So a pretty cute premise; it was established in the first scene itself that the MC genuinely likes Mie, so he’s more than happy to help her. Mie has an interesting and cute character; I am kind of worried that the MC may end up being a cookie-cutter MC with little personality. But hopefully, that won’t happen, and he will get some character development down the line.
Conclusion
That is all for now. The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses is a decent rom-com, I won’t consider it a must-watch, but if you are looking for a new rom-com, this is a good pick. It gets a fair 7/10 from me at this point. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. I will take my leave here. See ya!!
