The Jujutsu Kaisen Brainrot…

Article at a glance:

  • Jujutsu Kaisen’s Season 2 airing alongside the pivotal Gojo vs. Sukuna fight in the manga, especially around chapter 236 and the author’s break, sparked intense fan engagement and meme culture.
  • The song “Specialz” by King Gnu, used in the anime, became an anthem for fans, further fueling the meme frenzy and emotional connection to key scenes.
  • Jujutsu Kaisen memes, featuring phrases like “Nah, I’d win” and “Stand proud, you are strong,” permeated all social media platforms, making the series an inescapable part of internet culture.

I know that I am quite late when it comes to covering this… honestly staggering phenomena. But the only reason I am covering it even now is because I am surprised by how long it has lasted. And how mainstream it has become. It is not uncommon to find “Nah, I’d Win” or “Stand proud, you are strong” comments on YouTube these days, and Reddit… Reddit is just full of it. So we gotta talk about how Jujutsu Kaisen became the most popular manga on the planet overnight and the brainrot stemming from it.

After all, it is truly our Lobotomy Kaisen. Of course, this is my interpretation of the events lol. There has been a lot going on since then in the Jujutsu Kaisen fandom. And I love how everyone is spoiled on what happens because of the memes. So yeah, don’t worry, I won’t spoil anything more than what is already out there in the form of memes. So let us all get lobotomized and jump into the thick of the Jujutsu Kaisen Brainrot.

How did it even start?

I think this one is quite obvious. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 was airing around the same time when the fight between Gojo and Sukuna was ongoing in the manga. And right before its ending, in chapter 236, the author took a break. You can imagine what this break did to most of the fans. This little break right here combined with the shock of chapter 236 is what kickstarted this brain rot. And then it spiraled out of control. It was also around this time when the anime brought in Specialz by King Gnu as the opening theme. And now that song is also associated with it.

The role of Specialz

Because of how catchy the song itself is and the weird animation Mappa went with to go along with it already made Specialz a fan-favorite opening theme. And then they went ahead and played the full-length song after the Shibuya arc as Yuuji is kneeling in terror looking at the destruction and having a breakdown. Like, you can imagine how much stuff like that amplified the already brewing brainrot because of chapter 236. Specialz is an awesome song by the way even putting the memes aside, as typical of King Gnu it has some unorthodox instrumentation but it works.

And that’s pretty much it. It was a perfect storm of circumstances in both the anime and the manga. And now you can see Jujutsu Kaisen memes literally everywhere. You can NOT escape JJK memes no matter where you are. It is either going to be some variation of the iconic “Nah, I”d win” or “Stand proud, you are strong” or heck, maybe even some variation on “Throughout Heaven and Earth, I alone and the honored one”. You can NOT escape the brainrot, no matter how unrelated you think your interests are. Just give in and be consumed by it, it’s easier that way lol.

That is all for now

So yeah, that is how Jujutsu Kaisen became the most popular manga on the planet because of the memes and the brainrot. Now, I will take my leave here. Because throughout Nirn and Aetherius, I alone am the Dragonborn. See ya!
