Key takeaways from The Weakest Tamer news:
- The article highlights an upcoming anime adaptation of a light novel called “The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash”, directed by Shigeyasu Yamauchi and Noaki Horiuchi, and produced by Studio Massket.
- The main character of the story is the weakest tamer who is only able to tame a slime and survives by salvaging scraps.
- The article notes that despite the potential for the story to be just another generic isekai, the combination of the experienced directors and interesting circumstances surrounding the story make it worth giving a shot.
I think at this point there are Light Novels about pretty much everything. Fun fact: Japan produces more LN/Manga paper than literal toiler papers. Yeah, the business is that insane. The LN I am talking about today, The Weakest Tamer is a relatively niche LN, I don’t think I’ve heard anyone speak about it. I would have skipped the anime adaptation of this too had it not been for the interesting choice of the studio and the director.
So welcome back to another edition of ‘Put This on Your Radar’—the series where I highlight some of the upcoming anime that caught my attention. Today we will be taking a look at the anime adaptation of The Weakest Tamer Began a Journey to Pick Up Trash. Let’s get started.
What do we know about The Weakest Tamer anime?
So, the anime will of course be based on the LN of the same name by Honobonoru500 (nice name). The anime will be directed by Shigeyasu Yamauchi and Noaki Horiuchi. Do those names ring any bells? Yep, Yamauchi has worked on stuff like DBZ and One Piece while Horiuchi directed Vivy. Which is just an amazing combo to have. The anime will be made by Studio Massket, I will touch on it later.
As the name suggests, our MC is literally the weakest tamer out there. She is only able to tame a slime and lives off of scraps she manages to salvage. We don’t have a confirmed release window for this anime yet but we do know it’ll come out sometime in 2024. You can check out the PV for it here. The PV also previews the opening theme, “Hate no Nai Tabi” by Aina Suzuki.
I don’t even know where to start on this one. But, let me start with the choice of studio. The choice of the studio is pretty interesting as Studio Massket hasn’t really made a ‘proper’ anime. But, they have assisted in making a lot of animes so they’re not really inexperienced. The two directors of course are pretty big names in the industry and they have worked on a lot of popular animes so that makes The Weakest Tamer worth a shot in itself in my opinion.
So yeah, the overall circumstances surrounding the weakest tamer are rather intriguing, It may well be another generic isekai but I think it could be worth a shot in the future.
That is all from my side for now though. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. The Weakest Tamer could be a fun anime to watch or maybe another isekai down the drain, we will see. With that said, I will take my leave here, See ya!
