The World God Only Knows, Manga Recommendation

Key Takeaways from Manga Recommendation – The World God Only Knows:
- Quick info on The World God Only Knows
- Why you should out this manga
I checked out this manga rather recently after hearing a lot about it. And I have been enjoying it a lot so far, I seriously didn’t expect The World God Only knows to be as entertaining as it is. I really wanted to read a chill, laid-back manga last week and this hit the spot. So if you too are looking for a plain and simple comedy manga, you’re in the right place.
Welcome back to another edition of our manga recommendation series! This week we are talking about The World God Only knows. A comedy manga I picked up recently and have been enjoying a lot so far. Quite a lot of stuff I’d like to speak about, so let’s get started!
Introduction
The World God Only Knows is written and illustrated by Wakaki Tamiki. It was serialized in the Sunday Shonen Magazine from April 2008 and April 2014. It is 26 volumes or 271 chapters long. The manga does have multiple seasons of anime adaptations along with OVAs and stuff, so you can check that out if you want to as well. We are focusing on the manga today though so let’s move on to
Plot
Keima is a gamer boy. He can conquer the heart of any 2D girl and thinks that real life is just a boring game and has no interest in 3D women. One day though, when he’s on cleaning duty, he spots a strange message that challenges him to conquer a girl. He accepts and that summons Elsie. Who tasks him with capturing runaway spirits by making them fall in love with him. If he fails to capture them, Keima will lose his life.
Again, this is a comedy series. Dont bother trying to find logic in that plot lol. There seriously isn’t any logic to the plot itself, it is basically an excuse for a harem ending. Although, it is this stupidity that makes this series an entertaining read in my opinion. So let’s move on to
Characters
The series definitely does a great job in terms of character variety. There are a lot of characters and the series does a pretty good job of making their personalities distinct and memorable. The MC himself could have received some more character development in my opinion but, it wasn’t severely lacking or anything, I just feel like the author didn’t go far enough with him.
Art
The World God Only Knows has pretty good art. May not be god tier or anything but again, I have to praise it for the sheer variety in character design. The shading and proportions are really well done too. No complaints about the art side of things, for sure.
Why should you read The World God Only Knows?
