Tokyo Revengers Season 2 – First Impressions

You know an anime is something special when you look forward to its new season even though you are caught up with the manga. You know every twist, you know ever reveal. And yet, you find yourself sitting in front of the screen, excited for every episode to come. That is what Tokyo Revengers Season 2 is for me. And not a lot of series can do stuff like this.
So welcome back to another “First Impressions” article! Today we are talking about another big sequel from this season, Tokyo Revengers Season 2. I am really excited to see more of this season already because I know the upcoming arc is awesome. The story just keeps getting better and better from this point on. So let’s get started.
What do I think of Tokyo Revenger Season 2 so far?
As always, what I am about to say is based on the first episode. IΒ thinkΒ the 2nd episode is out when I am writing this but, I haven’t watched it yet so yeah. Everything here is based on the first episode alone. Of course, my scores and views may change down the season. Also, spoiler warningΒ because I will talk about the season 1 ending. I won’t spoil much of Season 2 episode 1 but, the season 1 ending will be spoiled right in the first sentence. You’ve been warned.
Season 2 Episode 1 picks up right where season 1 left off, with Kisaki about to shoot Takemichi. Of course, that doesn’t happen. I won’t tell you who saves Takemichi but, he is saved. And he begins to understand his new objective. For the most part of the episode, we are in the present time, collecting intel. We return back to the past right near the very end of the episode. With a new person to track down in mind. New friends and enemies await Takemichi as begins to get involved with the Black Dragons.
Episode 1 was pretty good. The studio did a really good job of adapting the manga. It was very faithful to the source material and they adjusted the pacing where necessary. The anime managed to give off a feeling of tension more intense than the manga, mostly due to clever direction but, hats off to that. I look forward to seeing how they adopt the upcoming chapters. These episodes will become really relevant to the plot in the last arc.
Conclusion
As things stand, just based on episode 1, Tokyo Revengers Season 2 gets an easy 9/10. That is, of course, my opinion. Yours may differ and that is fine. I definitely look forward to seeing more of this season. Cause some of the upcoming scenes are pretty epic. And Sugi-bro is voicing one of the upcoming characters, always fun to hear Sugi-bro.
That is all for now. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. Anime onlies are in for a treat this season that is for sure. With that said, I will take my leave here. It is quite late, I need some sleep. See ya!
