Top 5 Upcoming Anime According to MAL, February 2024

Key points for Top 5 Upcoming Anime according to MAL, February 2024:

  • I’ve noticed a cool pattern in my article releases aligning with MyAnimeList (MAL) updates. In this piece, I delve into the top 5 upcoming anime according to MAL’s February 2024 ranking.
  • Personally, I’m taken aback by the rankings, especially the unexpected placement of Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc at number 3, while One Punch Man Season 3 surpasses it in popularity on the list.
  • Taking the lead with over 230k members on MAL, KonoSuba Season 3 dominates despite not being as popular as Demon Slayer. I find this ranking quite intriguing and share my excitement for the upcoming anime releases in this article.

Coincidentally, the first time I wrote this article, was in June of 2023. The 2nd part came out 4 months later in October 2023. And now here we are with part 3, again 4 months later in February 2024. I didn’t notice this pattern till I started working on this one but that is pretty cool. I’ll continue to make these articles every few months. The top 5 upcoming anime according to MAL or MyAnimeList is always an interesting thing to check out because of how the website’s ranking system works for upcoming anime.

It raises some interesting points of discussion and that is exactly what we are here to look at today. For those who don’t know, the ranking for upcoming anime is based on how many people have those animes on their lists. Or as MAL puts it, how many “members” does that anime have, since you can’t score an upcoming anime. So, let’s take a look at the top 5 upcoming anime according to MAL, February 2024 update.

5. Oshi no Ko Season 2

Fair placement, this one isn’t that wild. We don’t have a release window for this anime and we don’t know much about Season 2 as of now, in general. But still, given how popular the series is, something like this being in the top 5 makes sense. So this one isn’t wild according to me. The wild ones are the top 3 because their order is very unexpected.

4. That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 3

Again, this one isn’t too wild. The fact that this is above something like Oshi no Ko is kinda weird because Oshi no Ko is more “mainstream” than TenSure in my opinion. But TenSura Season 3 is coming out just over a month later in April so, it checks out. As I said, the top 3 are where the fun begins. So let’s swiftly move on to those.

3. Demon Slayer: Hashira Training Arc

The fact that Demon Slayer is on No. 3 is wild in itself. And it is coming out right in the next season too like TenSura Season 3. Demon Slayer is the most popular anime on this list by a long shot. And it is coming out next season, just over a month away, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this was on no. 1 spot on this list. But no, it is sitting here on 3, This gets even wilder when you see what animes are in the top 2 spots.

2. One Punch Man Season 3

Again, this being in the top 5 isn’t the surprising part. What surprises me is the fact that this is above Demon Slayer on the list. And it is by a pretty decent margin too. Demon Slayer Hashira Training Arc has 171k members, and OPM Season 3 has 190k. We know little to nothing about this season. We don’t even know who is making it, let alone a release window. OPM is relatively popular too, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t think it is Demon Slayer levels of popular. So it being above Demon Slayer is just wild to me.

1. KonoSuba Season 3

KonoSuba pretty much leaves the competition in the dust with over 230k members. Again, we don’t have a release date for this yet either. We just know it’s coming out sometime this year. And again, this anime isn’t anywhere close to Demon Slayer when it comes to popularity. So yeah, KonoSuba being No.1 on the top 5 upcoming anime according to MAL is wild as hell.

That is all for now!

Doing this article reminded me of just how much good stuff we have to look forward to this year as well. I look forward to all of these anime and more. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. The Top 3 ranking was wild as hell. I guess it kinda goes on to show what sort of people use MAL more often. With that said though, I will take my leave here. See ya!
