Vinland Saga Anime Season 2 Confirmed!

Here we go, guys! Finally, the time has come. I have wanted this sequel for so, so long. You’ve probably even heard me rant about Vinland Saga not getting a season 2 a lot of times by now. But finally, here we are.

So Vinland Saga is a really good revenge/redemption story that is based on actual historical events. The story has great pacing and really good characters. Its first season came out back in 2019 and it is easily one of WIT’s finest works.

We finally have the 2nd season announcement now. Here are the details

The official website of Vinland Saga announced a 2nd season of the anime today (7the July) on the occasion of the 2nd anniversary of the first season along with a teaser visual and an announcement trailer. You can watch the announcement trailer right here. It is nothing much but it is all we have for now so…

All the major staff members are returning to their roles. The anime will most probably be made by WIT again or they may give this project to Studio Kafka. If you don’t know, Kafka is basically WIT 2.0 who are currently working on their first project. Their first project, of course, is the new OVA of Majoutsukai no Yome.

As for the plot, of course, the anime will continue to adapt the manga. The tine if the story will start changing now since it is no longer about revenge. The 2nd season will adapt the Slave Arc which is 45 chapters long. If the anime is 24/25 episodes again, we may get some snippets of the eastern expedition arc but it’s too soon to say.

The Slave/Farm arc is really good and I am really excited about it. The name of the arc itself is kind of a spoiler but I will try my best not to spoil the first season. But basically, Thorfinn’s perspective really changes in this arc and he has significant character growth.

As for the release date, I have absolutely no idea about it. It will come out next most probably though. I’d bet around this time next year meaning summer 2022. It may come in spring but I doubt it’s coming before that. of course, I could be wrong but, those are my speculations.

If you don’t know, the manga is divided into 4 arcs War Arc (covered by the first season), Slave/Farm Arc, Eastern Expedition Arc, and the Vinland Arc (unofficial name). So we will have at least 2 more seasons after this one.
