Wait Ghost of Tsushima is getting an ANIME???

Articlt at a glance:
- Revealed at CES 2025, the anime, titled Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, will adapt elements from the base game and its multiplayer expansion, slated for a 2027 release.
- Directed by Takanobu Mizuno and written by Gen Urobuchi (Fate/Zero, Madoka Magica), with animation by Kamikaze Douga.
- With the game’s stunning visuals and beloved story, expectations are high for the anime to capture the magic of the original.

This came out of nowhere, holy shit. Ghost of Tsushima is one of the best first-party games made by Play Station and especially now, it stands as a reminder of how far Sony has fallen in this console generation. There is a reason why GoT resonated so heavily with fans all around the world. The game’s natural beauty, and awesome gameplay combined with a stellar story delivered a package that we all recall fondly to this day. And now Ghost of Tsushima is getting an anime adaptation.
If you can’t tell already, I am a huge fan of the game. So welcome to another news article, today we are talking about the Ghost of Tsushima anime. So yeah, let’s get started.

What do we know about the Ghost of Tsushima Anime?
This surprise announcement came to us via CES 2025. We all know CES for hardware announcements like Nvidia and AMD’s new GPU lineup but this year, Sony blessed us with this surprise. 2024 wasn’t a good year for Sony. Aside from Helldivers 2 and Astrobot, they saw some massive failures. It is good to see that they’re starting 2025 on a good step. The anime will share the same name as the multiplayer expansion of GoT, Legends. The anime will draw its story from both the base game and the Legends expansion.
It is not clear yet if the anime will follow the game’s story beat for a beat or if it will be something different. The anime will be directed by Takanobu Mizuno and written by Gen Urobuchi at the studio Kamikaze Douga. Gen Urobuchi wrote the original Psycho-Pass, Madoka Magica, and Fate/Zero. So that already sets a high standard for the anime. And given how beautiful the game looks, the animation studio has a tall task ahead of them capturing the same beauty in anime form. Also, the anime is scheduled for 2027 release.

That’s all the news for now though, let’s move on to
My Thoughts
As I said earlier, the anime team has some big shoes to fill. Despite being from the PS4 generation, there aren’t many games out there that look as good as or better than Ghost of Tsushima. Imagine players asking you to add a “Press X to continue” button just so they could see the loading screen art. Gen Urobuchi has written some of my favorite works so I hope he works his magic here too. I really look forward to this anime and I really want it to be good.
I think you can already tell just how much I like this game. And I do think that the game’s story as is will make for a fantastic anime. But you know, Sony has let me down before too so fingers crossed, this anime will turn out to be good. I also find it funny that this announcement came out right before the Assassin’s Creed: Shadows delay announcement. I don’t know if that is just a coincidence or what, but it sure is funny.
That is all for now
But yeah, that is all for now. I know that I kind of sounded like a shill at times in the article but honestly, Sony put out some amazing games during the PS4 generation and Ghost of Tsushima just happens to be my favorite from that generation. But yeah, with that said, I will take my leave here. See ya!
