Wuthering Waves Anime (Elysium): What We Know & My Thoughts So Far

Well, that’s another major gacha game with an anime. Genshin announced their collab with ufotable years ago, and somehow we haven’t heard anything on that since then. Star Rail announced their collab with Mappa a bit more recently. And now we have Kuro Games stepping in as well. And instead of collabing with an existing studio, they’re just doing it themself. Yeah, Kuro Games is also making an animation studio. And of course, the Wuthering Waves anime will be their first project.

So welcome back to another news article. Sorry for missing last week; real-life stuff happened. But that will be compensated this week. And let’s talk about that upcoming Wuthering Waves anime today!

What Is Wuthering Waves: Elysium?

Well, not much, to be honest. It is called Wuthering Waves: Elysium. It was officially announced on July 18, 2026, during the To the New World concert tour in Shanghai. It will be the first anime series under Kuro Onroad. Kuro Onroad is, of course, the new animation studio. We got a reveal trailer for the anime but no release dates or details on what the plot will be. They did promise more updates soon, and don’t worry, I will keep you updated. I am sure they will make more animations since they went through the trouble of making a whole new studio for it. I hope they show PGR some love too.

With that said, let’s move on to

Will the Wuthering Waves Anime Follow the Game’s Story?

I think the main question everyone has is what the anime will cover. Will it just be a retelling of the main story so far? Will it be something to supplement the game’s story instead? The reveal trailer looks drop-dead gorgeous, but it doesn’t give much to go off of. It is just Cartethiya walking on a beach, followed by shots of every Sentinel Resonator. Well, except for Hsin, who’s the Sentinel herself.

Regardless, I am very interested no matter what route they pick because watching some of those cutscenes from Rinascita or Lahai Roi in better animations will be cinema. Oh, and just to be clear, the anime is likely going to be 3D like the cutscenes in the game, but better. It won’t be a traditional 2D anime.

Wuthering Waves does have a pretty interesting story, so supplementing it with more stuff outside the game also makes sense. So again, it is a win in my book either way. Because let’s face it, the animations will be absolutely stunning if the game’s recent cutscenes and the reveal trailer are anything to go by.
