Yamada-kun, Put This on Your Radar!

I covered this series a while back when the anime was initially announced. This is one of my “guilty pleasure” rom-coms and I’ve been waiting for an anime adaptation for a while. Well, I don’t have to wait too long now. Yamada-kun to Lv999 no Koi wo Suru or Loving Yamada at Lv999 anime will be coming soon, and I can hardly wait for it.
So welcome to another edition of Put This on Your Radar! The series where we discuss some of the upcoming anime that caught our eyes! Today we are talking about Yamada-kun to Lv999 no Koi wo Suru. I wanted to use the English title for this, but I think the English localization is a bit too cheesy… That is just what I think, don’t pick up your pitchforks for this. But well, let’s get started. As always, news and introduction in one section, and my thoughts will come after that.
What do we know about Yamada-kun anime so far?
Yamada-kun is based on the manga of the same name by Mashiro. The manga has been serialized in Ganma magazine since March 2019 and is still ongoing. The anime will be made by good ol’ Madhouse. So happy to see them back in business again, they haven’t had a major release since Overlord IV. Now I won’t say this anime is as mainstream as Overlord, but it is definitely bigger than the other stuff in their pipeline so I am happy. The anime will be coming out in April 2023.
The anime will be directed by Asaka Morio. He has worked on a lot of anime like NGNL, Monster, Nana, Black Lagoon, etc. His most notable directorial works are Chihayafuru and Nana. Quite an experienced person for sure. Uchiyama Kouki and Minase Iori will be starring as the main duo of the series. Uchiyama Kouki is one of my favorite VAs, I love his work as Miyamura (Horimiya), Takt, and more recently, Rin (Blue Lock). And of course, Minase Iori is famous for voicing Rem and Makinohara Shouko. Really fitting VAs for both characters.
And finally, they revealed a new PV that you can check out right here. Be careful, it might be region locked.
My Thoughts
All that said and done, I think this anime is in really good hands. Madhouse’s work quality varies from anime to anime but, I think it’s fair to say that they’re a good studio. Even if the animation quality isn’t god-tier, they do a good job on the stuff they make. The staff and cast so far seem pretty good and the PV looks amazing so I don’t see any reason to worry so far. The anime is coming out pretty soon and I am really excited about it.
Conclusion
Well, as I said, this is a manga I really do like so I am really excited about this anime. But, that is all for now. Let me know what you guys think in the comments. I will take my leave here. See ya!!
