Yofukashi no Uta First Impressions – This is Entertaining

So Summer 2022 is here and despite the appearances, we have quite a few good anime. On the surface, this season only has a few big names but if you dig just a bit deeper, you’ll find lots of good stuff. Yofukashi no Uta is one of the more anticipated animes of this season. Only the first episode is out at the time of writing so these are my honest first impressions about the show.
I’ll start off with an introduction to the show as always and then move on to my thoughts on it after that. These are just my first impressions of Yofukashi no Uta and of course, they may change through the course of the season. With that said though, let’s start.
Introduction
Yofukashi no Uta or Call of the Night is based on the manga of the same name by Kotoyama. It is published in Shogakukan’s Weekly ShΕnen Sunday magazine. It started its serialization back in August of 2019. The manga is currently ongoing; if I remember correctly, chapter 130 is the latest chapter at the time of writing. As for the anime, it just started airing and is being made by LidenFilms.
So if it wasn’t clear from the name, Yofukashi no UtaΒ isΒ a vampire series. It is quite different from the ones I’ve seen before though admittedly. But, let’s save my views for the next section. It follows Yamori Kou, a school boy who one day grows sick of his everyday life. He stops going to school and starts suffering from insomnia. He starts going out for strolls at the night alone because of this; one night he comes across Nazuna. His life changes completely after meeting her, yes she is a vampire.
My Thoughts on Yofukashi no Uta
With the introduction out of the way, I can finally talk about how I feel about the anime after watching the first episode. Let me start off by saying, LidenFilms nailed the animations and the atmosphere. I love how they exaggerate some scenes to showcase their feel, the art style is amazing and the animations are good. LidenFilms have hit-or-miss animations but Yofukashi no Uta is definitely a hit. The opening theme is really awesome as well.
The episode was extremely well directed. Nazuna and Kou’s vocal performances were just as I expected and I love them. If they keep up this level of detail and stuff, this is easily top 5 in the best anime of the season, for me at least. The episode turned out to be way, way better than I imagined.
Conclusion
Well, that is all for now. Let me know what you guys think of Yofukashi no Uta in the comments. I really enjoyed the first episode and I look forward to the rest of the series. My expectations for the series have definitely gone up now, so it should be fun to see where the series goes from here. With that said though, Azur Lane’s PR5 update just dropped. I will take my leave here. See ya!!
